GIRARD CRANKS IT UP ON CHANEY

Girard’s three pitchers didn’t allow a single hit, as they defeated Chaney 22-0 on Tuesday. Sophie Griffith induced a groundout from Mariah Sharpe to get the last out of the game.

Emily Rosace led Girard to victory by driving in five runs. Rosace went 2-for-3 at the plate. Rosace drove in runs on a grand slam in the first.

The Indians fired up the offense in the first inning, when Rosace homered on a 0-2 count, scoring four runs.

Girard scored ten runs in the second inning. Tori Owens, Abbie Rafferty, McKayla Durr, Allison Durkin, Malina Serrano, and Griffith all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Rosace was the winning pitcher for Girard. The righty surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out eight. Sidnee Rice and Griffith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Kailey May took the loss for Chaney. The bulldog allowed 18 hits and 22 runs over four innings, striking out one.

Girard socked one home run on the day. Rosace had a dinger in the first inning.

The Indians totaled 18 hits. Griffith, Serrano, Rosace, Durr, Owens, Durkin, and Rafferty all had multiple hits. Serrano and Griffith each collected three hits to lead.
