HOWLAND MAKES THE MOST OUT OF THEIR CHANCES

MIDDLEFIELD, OHIO – Howland and Cardinal had fans on the edge of their seats Friday night with a close game that provided some runs late in the ballgame as Howland held on for a razor thin 3-2 win.

The top of the sixth inning started with Howland trailing 2-1. After plating a run to make it 2-2, Bode Biggin grounded out which led to a run being scored to make it 3-2.

Both sides got very good pitching performances, but Howland’s Anthony Marimpietri came out as the winning pitcher. Marimpietri gave his ballclub a performance of five innings, allowing three hits and two runs, striking out five Cardinal batters.

Robert Gumino led the Tigers in hits as he went two-for-four with a bat in his hand. It took six hits for Howland to post their three runs. The final line for Cardinal was two runs on five hits with both runs coming in the bottom of the fifth inning. Each team was a bit sloppy in the field defensively as they committed four errors.
