JULIANO SPARKS OFFENSE; CARDS BLANK FIRESTONE
CANFIELD, OH- The Dirty Bird Classic continued from Canfield on Tuesday with the Cardinals defeating Akron Firestone 7-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
Canfield secured the victory thanks to four runs in the third inning. The Cardinal’s offense in the inning came from singles by Nate Shaw and Josh Juliano. Canfield fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ryan Petro singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Alex Iannizzaro led the Cards to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out seven.
Shaw started the game for Canfield. Shaw went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out four
Canfield totaled seven hits. Landon Beidelchies and Juliano all collected multiple hits for Canfield. Juliano and Beidelchies all had two hits to lead the team.
