LIONS REIGN SUPREME

LISBON OH- The Heartland Christian baseball team traveled to Lisbon looking to continue to feast on opposing pitching as it had in the early part of the season. Feast is what the Lions did as they used a late inning onslaught to secure the 18-3 victory over the Blue Devils.

Heartland struck quickly in the 1st inning behind  back to back doubles from Drew Walker and Jake Kling making it 3-0.  Joel Morgan would add an RBI single, and Jake Walker would add an RBI Sac Fly making 5-0 Lions in the 5th.

Lisbon would get back in the game in the bottom half of the 5th, Daimen McCormick contributed an RBI single and Hunter Sturgeon’s RBI double cut the Heartland lead to 5-3.  That would be as close as the Blue Devils would get as the Heartland hitters would explode for 13 runs in the 6th inning sealing the victory. Drew Gault would lead the Lions attack on the evening going 3-5 with 5 RBI.

Jake Walker would contribute 3 RBI, while Nate Garzanich, Jake Kling, and Will Morgan all collected 2 hits each.  Hunter Sturgeon finished with 2 hits and an RBI in defeat for the Blue Devils.  Seth Walker collected the win on the hill going 6 innings and striking out 4.

Lisbon (2-4) looks to collect itself Wednesday hosting Wellsville.  Heartland (4-1) has a great matchup with Crestview (5-0) 7pm Wednesday at Cene Park in Struthers.
