MOONEY SETS THE TONE AGAINST CLIPPERS

STRUTHERS, OH- Cardinal Mooney rallied from a 4-1 deficit to score six runs in the final three innings to defeat Columbiana (10-2) Thursday evening at Cene Park.   The Clippers struck first with two runs in the first inning and tacked on a third in the fourth frame.  Mooney would get its first run in the bottom of the fourth while Columbiana was able to counter with a run of their own in the fifth taking a 4-1 lead.  Mooney then scored two in the bottom of the fifth and got three in the sixth to take the lead.  Columbiana would go down in order in the seventh securing the victory for the Cardinals.

Zachary Pleska (2-1) got the start for Columbiana.  Pleska pitched 5.2 innings giving up six runs (3 earned) striking out eight and walking six.  Alex Eusebio finished off the rest of the sixth inning for the Clippers.

At the plate, Bayden Pipoly led the way with two hits and scoring two runs.  Zachary Pleska added an RBI triple for the Clippers.  Riley McElwain singled with an RBI and Alex Eusebio and Devin Daugherty each also singled.

Zach Hyrb was 2 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base for the Cards, Litman drove in a pair to lead the offense.

Columbiana is back in action tomorrow evening as the Clippers travel to Austintown-Fitch to take on the Falcons at 5 PM.
