Conneaut, OH- After a record night from beyond the arc, the Lakeside Dragons soared past the Conneaut Spartans with a commanding 96-50 victory. The Dragons showcased their dominance from the opening whistle, leaving the Spartans struggling to keep pace throughout the game.

From the onset, Lakeside’s junior guard Dyln Newsome emerged as the focal point of their offensive onslaught. Newsome delivered a staggering performance, pouring in a remarkable 43 points, with an astonishing 13 3-pointers punctuating his scoring spree. His precision from beyond the arc was simply unmatched, with seven of those triples coming in a scintillating second-quarter display. Newsome’s big shooting night places him 5th all-time in OHSAA history with 13 3-pointers,

Supporting Newsome’s scoring barrage, Alex DiSalvatore contributed 20 points, while Aiden Hathy added 12 points of his own. Chase Newsome also chipped in with 10 points, further bolstering Lakeside’s offensive firepower.

Despite the valiant efforts of the Conneaut Spartans, led by Chance Loomis with 18 points and Davonte Harris with 15 points, they found themselves overwhelmed by Lakeside’s relentless offensive assault.

With this victory, the Lakeside Dragons improve to a 4-11 record and set their sights on a rematch against the Perry Pirates on February 9th. The Pirates previously triumphed over the Dragons with a convincing 71-49 victory on January 16th, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated showdown.

Meanwhile, the Conneaut Spartans, now standing at 3-14, will face a challenging road matchup against the Edgewood Warriors on the same day. Having suffered an 84-44 defeat at the hands of the Warriors earlier in the season, the Spartans will seek redemption as they aim to bounce back from this tough loss.

As both teams prepare for their upcoming clashes, the Dragons’ scorching shooting display serves as a reminder of their offensive prowess, while the Spartans look to regroup and strive for a better outcome in their next outing
