PERRY TOO MUCH POWER FOR EAGLES

HUBBARD, Ohio

Still sore from a walk-off defeat at the hands of the Boardman Spartans, the Hubbard Lady Eagles (4-3) played host to the Massillon Perry Panthers.

The Panthers got off the bus ready to play, hitting back-to-back doubles to kick off the game and plating 2 runs in the top of the first. The Lady Eagles took little time to respond. Leadoff hitter Lexi Najdusak started off the bottom half with a single and would later score on an Emily Filicky bunt.

Still ahead by a run, the Panthers picked up right where they had left off at the dish. After a ground out and a single to start the inning, freshman Marlee Pireu blasted one over the center field fence to expand the lead to 3.

After shutting the Lady Eagles out in the bottom half, Perry would score 3 runs in the third thanks to an RBI double off the bat of Kailee Wilson and a sacrifice fly from pitcher Grace Miller.

Scoring would go dormant from the bottom of the third to the top of the sixth before Hubbard would get themselves back into the game with an RBI triple from Grace Narkum that she’d turn into an inside the park homerun thanks to an error by the center fielder.

As quickly as the Eagles got themselves back in contention, the Perry Panther’s Grace Miller and Marlee Pireu were there to bring their club back out to a 6-run lead.

The Lady Eagles were unable to conjure up a miracle comeback in the bottom of the 7th, failing to plate a run and losing 10-3.
