QUAKERS UP FOR THE TASK

Salem took the lead late and defeated LaBrae 10-8 on Monday. Salem was down 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Corey Riesen singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

A five-run lead in the fifth inning was just enough for the Quakers to hold off LaBrae for the victory. LaBrae scored one run on a error in the sixth inning.

Salem got on the board in the first inning when Gavin Wilms doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Cayden Burt was credited with the victory for the Quakers. Burt went three and a third innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out one. Brock Young, Preston Markovich, and Wilms all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Wilms recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Jordan McCartney took the loss for the Vikings. The pitcher surrendered three runs on three hits over three innings, striking out three.

Salem tallied one home run on the day. Darius Beck had a dinger in the fifth inning.

Salem collected ten hits. Blaize Exline and Nick Coletta all managed multiple hits. Exline led with three hits in four at bats.
