SPARTANS GET THE BATS GOING

WARREN OH- Tori Strines collected three hits in four at bats, as Boardman defeated Warren G. Harding 16-2 on Monday. Strines hit a home run to center field in the third inning, doubled in the first inning, and doubled in the fourth inning.

Boardman won thanks in part to 11 runs in the third inning. Ellie Wymer singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Laci Jurus singled, scoring one run, Strines homered to center field, scoring two runs, Alex Ward tripled, scoring one run, Maddie Wymer singled, scoring one run, Gabi Sferra singled, scoring one run, and Wymer doubled, scoring two runs.

The Spartans jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Ward drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.

Strines earned the win for Boardman. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Karly Trisler took the loss for the Raiders. They went four innings, giving up 16 runs (13 earned) on 13 hits, striking out two and walking six.

The Spartans tallied 13 hits in the game. Wymer seized on their opportunities, leading with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Wymer and Sferra each collected multiple hits. Jurus and Wymer each stole multiple bases for the offense. Boardman  had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. They ran wild on the base paths, amassing seven stolen bases for the game. They didn’t commit a single error in the field. Olivia LaCivita had the most chances in the field with 10.

Breasia Butler, Trisler, Alycia Vaughn, and Azarriah Phillips each collected one hit for Warren Harding. Butler and Vaughn were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run.
