FITCH FALCONS FLY BY DRAGONS

Ashtabula, OH- Led by a stellar performance from Trevor Porter, the Austintown-Fitch Falcons dominated the Lakeside Dragons with a commanding 16-6 win on Wednesday.

Porter proved to be a driving force for the Falcons, delivering four RBIs on two hits. His contributions were crucial, as he singled twice, walked twice, and consistently found ways to bring in runs throughout the game.

Austintown-Fitch wasted no time in asserting their dominance, jumping ahead in the top of the second inning with a flurry of runs. Nate McGahagan, Ross Harris, Frank Senediak, and Drew Kaschak were among the Falcons players who contributed to their team’s early offensive onslaught, providing key hits and drawing walks to put Austintown-Fitch in the lead.

The Falcons continued to extend their lead in the third inning, with John Darnley adding to the scoring with a sacrifice fly and Porter once again coming through with a timely hit.

On the mound, Cole Gamy delivered a solid performance for the Falcons, earning the win after pitching four innings and allowing just three earned runs while striking out four batters.

Despite their efforts, the Lakeside Dragons couldn’t contain the Falcons’ offensive firepower. Tristan Westerfield started on the mound for the Dragons but faced a tough outing, giving up eight runs over one and two-thirds innings.

Nevertheless, the Lakeside Dragons showed resilience at the plate, with Gage Tome leading the offensive charge by driving in two runs. Alex DiSalvatore also had a strong showing, collecting three hits in three at-bats, while Dyln Newsome contributed two hits to the team’s offensive effort.

With this convincing victory secured, the Austintown-Fitch Falcons turn their attention to their next challenge as they prepare to face the Alliance Varsity Aviators on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Lakeside Dragons will regroup and aim for a comeback when they take on West Geauga in their next matchup.

CANFIELD DOMINANT AGAINST HARDING

CANFIELD, OH- The Canfield Cardinals cruised to a dominant 10-0 victory over Harding on Tuesday, thanks largely to a powerful fourth inning where they put up six runs. Ryan Weibling, David Murphy, and Jake Dovich each delivered big hits, driving in two runs apiece to seal the deal for Canfield.

The Cardinals started their scoring spree in the second inning after capitalizing on a Harding error for the first run. Tanner Stricko then stepped up to the plate and smacked a single that brought in two more runs, giving Canfield an early lead. The momentum continued with another run in the third, again following a Harding mishap.

On the mound, Anthony Groner was nearly untouchable, throwing five innings of one-hit ball. He struck out eight and walked none, earning a well-deserved win. On the other side, Harding’s Freeman struggled through four innings, surrendering 10 runs, though only three were earned, on eight hits.

Murphy was a standout at the plate, notching three RBIs on a 1-for-3 hitting performance, providing the critical firepower in the lineup. Zain Jadallah also had a solid day with the bat, going 2-for-3 to lead the team in hits. Defensively, the Cardinals were sharp, turning a crucial double play to keep Harding at bay.

Freeman managed Harding’s only hit of the game in his two at-bats.

Looking ahead, the Cardinals aim to carry their momentum into their next game against Boardman on Wednesday, hoping to replicate their strong performance both on the mound and at the plate and to stay in contention for the AAC crown.

FITCH GRABS SHARE OF AAC IN EXTRAS

HOWLAND, OH- In a nail-biter that came down to the wire, the Austintown-Fitch Falcons clinched a tight 4-3 win over the Howland Tigers, thanks to a clutch hit in the ninth inning, and in doing so, also grabbed a piece of the AAC Baseball Crown. The game was deadlocked at three when Trevor Porter stepped up and delivered a single that drove in the go-ahead run.

The scoring kicked off earlier in the third when Jackson Cheeks of the Falcons singled to bring in the first run of the game. Howland wasn’t far behind, tying things up that same inning thanks to a walk by Dominic Santee.

Howland then nudged ahead in the fourth, taking a 2-1 lead with Anthony Marimpietri’s RBI single. But the Falcons weren’t down for long; they bounced back in the fifth with Cheeks and Drew Kaschak each knocking in a run to regain the lead.

The Tigers fought back to tie the game at three all in the seventh, courtesy of a walk by Aiden Anders, setting the stage for Porter’s late-game heroics.

On the mound, Carter Owens was the winning pitcher for Austintown-Fitch, holding Howland to just one run over three innings, while Steven Bubon took the loss after giving up the decisive run in his four innings of relief.

The Falcons showed off their batting skills throughout, racking up 12 hits. Cheeks was particularly effective, driving in two crucial runs. Carson Fuller had a standout performance too, leading the team with three hits.

Defensively, the Falcons were sharp, turning a critical double play to keep the Tigers at bay. Meanwhile, Howland also had some bright spots with Bode Biggin and Richie Ansel each snagging a pair of hits.

Next up, the Falcons hit the road to face the Lakeside Dragons on Wednesday, hoping to carry over their momentum from this thrilling win.

CARDS KEEP FLYING AGAINST HARDING

WARREN, OH- The Canfield Cardinals soared to a solid 9-3 victory over Harding on Monday, showcasing their hitting prowess right from the start.

The action kicked off in the top of the first when Zain Jadallah hit a triple, quickly followed by David Murphy’s single, each driving in a run to put Canfield on the board. However, Harding wasn’t about to roll over. They tied it up at 2-2 in the second inning thanks to a timely single from Hart.

Harding then nudged ahead 3-2 in the third, with a single from Beyer marking the score. But the Cardinals were just getting warmed up. In the fourth inning, they flew ahead 5-3, sparked by triples from Enzo Cocca and Michael Patellis, showcasing their speed and hitting depth.

Patellis didn’t just shine at the plate; he also clinched the win on the mound despite giving up three runs over three innings, and managing to strike out six. Meanwhile, Harding’s Hart endured the loss after yielding nine runs across more than six innings of work.

The Cardinals collected a total of 11 hits. Tanner Stricko, Murphy, Anthony Groner, and Patellis each had a productive day with two hits apiece. Stricko, in particular, was instrumental, batting in three runs. The team also demonstrated patience at the plate, earning eight walks, with Cocca, Joey Gabriel, and Ryan Weibling each walking twice.

Defensively, Canfield turned a double play, maintaining their composure in the field.

For Harding, their bats weren’t silent either, racking up nine hits. Hart and Kuhn each managed two hits, contributing to the team’s efforts.

The teams are set for a rematch on Tuesday, and if this game was any indicator, it’s sure to be another exciting clash as Canfield looks to keep their momentum rolling.

FITCH FLEXES ON TIGERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Frank Senediak was the star of the show, driving in four runs on two hits to power Austintown-Fitch past Howland with a commanding 13-1 win on Monday. Senediak sparked the offense with a key double in the third inning that brought home a run, followed by a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Austintown-Fitch’s bats caught fire in the third inning, plating a whopping 10 runs. Alongside Senediak’s contributions, Mason Petridis doubled to drive in two, Jackson Cheeks singled in another pair, and John Darnley added a double for another run. Nik Kyprianou walked with the bases juiced to bring in a run, an error allowed two more runs, and Carter Owens capped off the inning with an RBI single.

Howland managed to get on the scoreboard in the same inning, thanks to Brendan Ray grounding into a double play, but still pushing across a run.

On the mound, Darnley was solid for Austintown-Fitch, allowing just one unearned run on three hits over five innings, striking out four. Brayden Kovarik suffered the loss for Howland, giving up seven runs on six hits in just over two innings of work.

At the plate, Austintown-Fitch racked up 12 hits. Owens, Darnley, Cheeks, and Senediak each had a pair of hits, showing off a potent lineup that Howland struggled to contain. Defensively, Austintown-Fitch stayed sharp, turning a double play to help stifle any potential rallies from Howland.

Howland’s Aiden Anders, Luca Fronzaglio, and Richie Ansel each managed to pick up a hit in a tough outing for their team.

The two teams are set to face off again on Tuesday, with Howland looking to bounce back on their home turf against a red-hot Austintown-Fitch squad.

TIGERS CLAW PAST GIRARD

HOWLAND, OH- Both squads brought their A-game to the mound on Friday, but Howland Tigers edged out Girard 3-1 in a tight contest.

Brendan Ray took the hill for Howland and went the distance, chalking up 21 outs. Girard initially broke through in the fourth inning after a wild pitch allowed them to score.

The Tigers roared back in the bottom half of the same inning, taking the lead for good at 3-1. Terry Werner kicked off the rally with a clutch single, Isaiah Burgess grounded out to send a runner home, and Anthony Marimpietri added a key RBI single.

Ray was stellar, bagging the win by holding Girard to just one unearned run on five hits while striking out nine over seven innings. Jaden Royal absorbed the loss for Girard, giving up three runs across six innings, managing only one strikeout and handing out four walks.

The Tigers showcased some solid hitting, with Luca Fronzaglio, Brayden Kovarik, Marimpietri, Ray, and Werner each bagging a hit. Marimpietri, Werner, and Burgess each notched an RBI. Defensively, Howland was on point, turning two double plays to stifle any Girard rallies.

For Girard, leadoff hitter Will Hynes was the bright spot, going 3-for-4 and swiping two bases, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. Camron Herrick was a standout in the field, getting involved in three key plays.

Howland looks to keep the momentum rolling as they head to Austintown-Fitch on Monday.

A COMMUNITY WIN FOR LOUISVILLE

LOUISVILLE, OH- Cooper Rice was on fire at the plate in front of the entire community, bagging four hits in as many at-bats, to lead Louisville Leopards past Boardman with a 9-4 victory on Thursday. Rice was everywhere, hitting a triple in the sixth, and adding singles in the first, second, and fourth innings.

The scoring started with Jakeb Beard’s double in the first inning for Louisville. But Boardman briefly took the lead, 2-1, in the third, thanks to Adam Konnerth’s triple and Kaden Mayhew’s RBI groundout.

Louisville took control in the fourth, surging ahead 5-2. Andrew Corona smashed a two-run double, Cole Miller added an RBI double, and Beard contributed with an RBI single.

Tate Aljancic was credited with the win for Louisville, allowing four runs over four and a third innings, despite giving up just two hits. Mason Wanochi, on the mound for Boardman, was tagged with the loss after yielding five runs on nine hits in just over three innings. Blake Johnson stepped in to snag the save for Louisville.

Louisville racked up a total of 14 hits in the game. Beard was key in the middle of the lineup, driving in three runs on a 2-for-3 outing. Zach Root and Miller also had multiple hits.

Defensively, Louisville kept it clean with no errors, and Owen Burick was involved in six plays, leading his team.

For Boardman, Grayson Eicher and Konnerth each had a hit, while Mayhew brought in two runs.

Louisville is set to face Boardman again on Monday.

LAKEVIEW TAKES A BITE OUT OF HOWLAND

CORTLAND, OH- The Lakeview Bulldogs clinched a solid 7-3 victory over Howland Thursday.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead early, with Matt Seikel cracking a single in the second inning that drove in two runs. Brandon Toot kept the momentum going with a sacrifice fly in the third, pushing the score to 3-0.

Jacob Shaker was on point from the mound for Lakeview, holding Howland to just two hits and no runs over four innings, notching three strikeouts without issuing a walk. On the other side, Anthony Marimpietri shouldered the loss for Howland, giving up four runs on seven hits in just under four innings.

Lakeview was on fire at the plate, racking up 10 hits. Seikel, batting seventh, led the charge with three RBIs and went 2-for-3 for the day. Toot, Nathan Paolucci, Hayden Newton, and Seikel each managed two hits.

For Howland, Luca Fronzaglio, Ketan Perry, and Dominic Santee each knocked in a run, with Santee also leading Howland with two hits in four at-bats.

Up next, the Bulldogs hit the road to face Niles McKinley on Friday in a NE8 matchup.

O’DONNELL SHUTS DOWN SPARTANS

HOWLAND, OH- The Howland Tigers snagged a solid 5-1 win over Boardman on Wednesday, with the bottom of their lineup stepping up big time. Anthony Marimpietri, Brendan Ray, and Terry Werner were the key contributors, combining for four of the team’s seven hits. They managed to drive in four runs and score one themselves.

The Tigers got things rolling in the second inning when Werner knocked a single to bring in the first run. Ray kept the momentum going with another RBI single in the third to double the lead.

On the mound, Sully O’Donnell delivered a strong performance for Howland, giving up just one unearned run over seven innings, despite allowing nine hits. He struck out four and walked three. Boardman’s starter, Landon Whippo, had a tougher day, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings.

Marimpietri, hitting from the nine spot, was clutch, driving in two runs. Ray, hitting seventh, showed the depth of Howland’s lineup by going 2-for-3 at the plate. Werner not only contributed with his bat but also swiped two bases, adding to the Tigers’ aggressive base running.

Boardman managed to put up nine hits, with Grayson Eicher and Tyler Kirlik each grabbing two. Marty Stachowicz drove in their only run of the game.

Next, Boardman will return home to host the undefeated Poland Bulldogs, while the Tigers hit the road to take on Lakeview on Thursday, looking to keep their winning streak alive.

EAGLES SOAR OVER FITCH

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The Kennedy Eagles clinched a solid 6-2 victory over the Austintown-Fitch Falcons this Wednesday. Kennedy took the lead early in the third when Caleb Hadley walked with the bases loaded, pushing a run across. Austintown-Fitch answered back in the fourth when Jackson Cheeks cracked a double to even things up.

The tide really turned in the fifth inning. Hadley came through again with a double that scored another run, and Dominic Ryan followed with a single to extend Kennedy’s lead to 3-1. Jaden Rishel was on point for Kennedy, controlling the game from the mound by allowing just one run over six innings, striking out four.

On the losing side, Anthony Wibert struggled a bit for the Falcons, surrendering four runs over five innings. Micheal Bartoe came in to help, but the day belonged to Kennedy.

Jackson Cheeks led things at the dish for the Falcons with two hits including a double to tie the game in the fourth inning.  Frankie Senediak also had an RBI.

Kennedy’s bats were hot, racking up nine hits. Michael Condoleon, Andrew Lapolla, and Santino Ciambotti each snagged two hits. The team also showed patience at the plate, earning eight walks, with Freddy Bolchalk and Hadley picking up a couple each.

Defensively, Kennedy turned a crucial double play to keep the Falcons at bay, who managed two double plays themselves. Cheeks stood out for Austintown-Fitch with two hits.
