TAYLOR GOES YARD, LADY FALCONS CAGE TIGERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Fitch squared off against the lady Howland Tigers at 911 field.  Ashley Spalding struck out 9 in five innings as well as going 2-4 with two doubles.

Maddy Taylor went 2-2 with a home run (6), 3 runs scored, 2 RBI and a stolen base as the Lady Falcons put 11 on the board to beat the Tigers 11-1 in 5 innings.

Kayla Kelty and Ashley Fuller also recorded two hits apiece as the Falcons move to 6-1 in the conference.

FITCH STAYS HOT, MERCY RUNS TIGERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Christian Myers led the way for Fitch, going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, and a walk-off home run. Alarik Sierra and TJ Piroch added 2 hits apiece for Fitch.

Patrick Coleman threw the complete game while allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits, and he was aided by great defense by Fitch’s left fielder, Lorenzo Russo.

Fitch improves to 12-4 (6-1 in AAC play) on the season.

LADY FALCONS SOAR PAST HARDING

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The firm of Simons, Spalding, and Taylor shut down the Raiders 10-2 on Tuesday night.  Lydia Spalding struck out 8 in only 3 innings of work and at the plate was a HR shy of the cycle.

Behind her, Senior Lainie Simons drilled a home run and Maddy Taylor contributed 2 singles and a round-tripper while contributing 3 runs batted in.

FALCONS BATTLE BACK TO REJECT RAIDERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Warren G. Harding set the pace early, but it was the never say die Fitch Falcons that were standing tall at the end of the night.

Warren Harding jumped on the Falcons early, scoring 4 runs in the first inning all with two outs, but it was all Austintown Fitch after that.   Pat Coleman threw the complete game, allowing 4 runs while scattering 7 hits, and striking out 10 in the process.

At the plate for Fitch, Christian Myers belted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd inning to ignite the Falcons’ bats.  Myers would go 2-3 on the night.  Lorenzo Russo and Kenny Misik would add 2 RBI nights to their resume as well. Alarik Sierra and Russo also blazed the basepaths with 3 stolen bags each.

Fitch improves to 8 and 2 on the season and will head to Bob Cene Park on Thursday to take on Mooney.  You can catch all the action on YSNLive.com/austintown-fitch.

LADY FALCONS ROUT RAIDERS

WARREN, OH- The Falcons defeated the Raiders 10-0 in conference play to push the Falcons to 4-1 in their conference.

Offensively,  Maddy Taylor led the hitting going 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI.  Lanie Simons, Kayla Kelty, and Abby Brown also recorded two hits each.  Jenna Chemlick also picked up a 2 RBI single.

Defensively,  Lydia Spalding racked up 7 strikeouts in just 3 innings and Ryleigh Morgan was Houdini of the Hot Corner snagging a line drive down the third base line and doubling a runner off of first base.

The Falcons face off against Harding again tomorrow at home on 911 Field.

HIGGINBOTTHAM GOES THE DISTANCE AS FITCH SLIDES PAST RAIDERS 6-0

WARREN, OH-  The Fitch Falcons continued their winning ways on Monday. Trey Giannini, Jake Lawrence, and Alarik Sierra stayed hot on offense as all went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Austintown Fitch.

On the mound for the Falcons, Devin Higginbottham threw the complete game, 7 innings pitched, allowing just 3 hits and 0 runs, while striking out 6 batters.  The Falcons will reset and resume their two-game set tomorrow at home against Warren Harding as they attempt to sweep the season series.

The game will be featured on YSN beginning at 5pm.

WU IS PERFECT AGAINST YOUNGSTOWN, LIFTS CHINA TO VICTORY

WASHINGTON, PA- Sin-Jie Wu earned the win for Chinese Taipei. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out nine and walking zero.  Colten Shaffer took the loss for Youngstown.  He surrendered four runs on two hits over five innings, striking out one and walking zero on 69 pitches (40 strikes.)  The game was only five innings due to poor weather from Monday’s schedule.  All 6 games today will be under the 5-inning schedule.

Chinese Taipei was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Chiu-Teng Chen had the most chances in the field with ten.

For Chinese Taipei, they were able to capitalize on errors by Youngstown as only 1 of their 4 runs were earned.  The victors will now wait to see who emerges from the Youngstown/Dominican Republic game this afternoon.  That game slated for 1pm.

FITCH TEAMS UP TO ONE-HITS RAIDERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH-   Austintown Fitch  defeated South Range 10-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Desalvo induced a groundout from Bajerski to finish off the game.  Austintown scored five runs in the fifth inning. Kole Klasic and Mike Grazier all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.  The only bright spot for South Range was a single by Kris Scandy in the fifth inning.

Desalvo was credited with the victory for Fitch. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one.  Sam Brooks took the loss for South Range. He allowed six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out three.

Nick Bianco started the game for the Falcons. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out three and walking one.  The Fitch Falcons racked up ten hits on the day. Vinny DirenzoKlasicRobby Russo, and Grazier each racked up multiple hits. GrazierRussoKlasic, and Direnzo each collected two hits to lead the Falcons. Austintown Fitch Falcons was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Russo had the most chances in the field with six.

South Range will look to rebound today against Girard in preparation for their District Opener on Thursday at home.
