COLUMBIANA VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JENNIFER MARTIN

COLUMBIANA OH- What is that in the sky? It’s another edition of Columbiana Clipper Volleyball swooping in for a successful season to add to their collection. There is a tradition of success at Columbiana that has remained strong through Jennifer Martin taking the reigns. Coach Martin is back to head up another exciting group of players. With a lot of returners, Coach Martin is replacing the faces they’ve lost by putting players in new roles. This season the Clippers will certainly show off their versatility as athletes as they find new ways to shine.

Coach Martin took time out of her day to hop on to YSN’s Running Point to help us get a good preview of the Clippers season. She talks to Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about what fans should be most excited about, some of the people behind her making the program great, and much more. WATERLOO BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH RICKY POLINORI

ATWATER OH- n the world of football for The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC), it can be said that The Springfield Tigers have been the team to beat. The same can be said in Football (Soccer) as Springfield has more than earned their stripes over the years.

But not so fast! Sound the horns because a Viking ship is approaching from Atwater! The Waterloo Vikings have been a program that wants to build it’s prestige in ALL athletics, and soccer is no different. As The Vikings look to throw their hat in the ring with hopes of finishing atop The MVAC. But first, Waterloo’s goals start with having a winning season.  With a new skipper in Rick Polinori at the helm, The Vikings are looking for a culture shift from what they’ve been used to in recent memory. Get on the ship before it sails! As Waterloo opens their season with Canton South on Monday, August 22nd.  Until then, you can catch this EXCLUSIVE YSN Interview! LAKEVIEW VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH HEATHER GUTHRIE

CORTLAND OH- For the first time since the start of the NE8, Lakeview volleyball will come into the season chasing a reigning champion.  This has been the Bulldogs conference for years, and now they’ll be chasing Girard who knocked them off last season. Head coach Heather Guthrie is taking advantage of the hunger being the underdog can bring. Returning almost their entire roster, don’t sleep on Lakeview to regain their dominance this year.  They open the season August 20th at Cardinal Mooney.

Coach Guthrie was able to take the time to come on YSN’s Running Point to discuss the prospects of the new season. She talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about how much the team has grown, the mentality of being an underdog, and much more. BEAVER LOCAL VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SARAH LOWE

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- Last season, Beaver Local was one of the premiere volleyball teams in the area. They’ve been a successful program for quite some time. A big reason of that is consistency at the top. Sarah Lowe returns as the head coach as the program. Even with a bunch of new faces, the Beavers are looking to make waves this season.  The Beavers open the season Wednesday August 24th as they host St. Clairsville.

SPRINGFIELD GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JUSTIN KOSEK

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Soccer season is swiftly approaching, and the sport in the area is loaded with talent.  Springfield is one of the premiere girls soccer programs in the valley.  They are currently defending three straight MVAC championships. Dominance like that doesn’t come over night. It takes hard work. Head coach Justin Kosek has put in that work with the program. Coming in to his 9th season at the helm, Kosek is confident it will be another successful season.  Springfield opens the season August 22nd at Salem.

Coach Kosek was able to spend some time with the boys on Running Point to give us a peak inside this year’s edition of the team.  He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the success the team has had, expectations of the season, and much more. WATERLOO GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH BILL JACKSON

ATWATER OH- There’s a plethora of fall sports coming just around the bend for the Mahoning Valley. Soccer is included in that, and our area is full of talent. One of the more exciting programs coming in to this season is Waterloo’s girls team. They return a ton of experience, including Kaira English who broke the school record last season with 54 goals on the campaign. Waterloo enters the year with a new head coach in Bill Jackson who looks to carry the program to new highs.

Coach Jackson came on YSN’s Running Point to help us get a peak into what the Vikings season will look like. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Eric Bailey about his returning leaders, the people that have been important to getting off to a good start with the team, and so much more. WATERLOO FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE DEVIES

ATWATER OH- Here comes football right around the corner. As the calendar flips it’s pages, the smell of fall fills the air. After three months without high school sports, the anticipation is sky high for the seasons to start.  In Waterloo they will have a lot to look forward to. Not just a new look uniform on their team, but they also have a revamped stadium that will give the Viking fans a great experience.

Head coach Mike Devies stopped by YSN’s Running Point to help us preview the Vikings season. Also serving as athletic director, Devies gives his all for the kids of the school. SPRINGFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SEAN GUERRIERO

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH- The Springfield Tigers have been one of the most successful pigskin programs over the past four years, and at the helm- the ringmaster of that show has been Sean Guerriero.

Coach G enters his 14th year as the Head Coach, and 2022 is the first time in a while that Guerriero can consider himself even remotely in the “underdog” category.  With the departure of one of the most successful classes in school history, including a record-breaking quarterback, many critics have the Tigers up against the ropes in the upcoming year, and the MVAC is looking for revenge.

We sat down with Coach Guerriero for the first of many conversations in 2022 where he’ll discuss a preview and status of the team throughout the season.

AUSTINTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MATT HAMLEY

AUSTINTOWN OH- STATE CHAMPIONS!! The Austintown 10U softball team has reached the summit of the state softball world. With their sixth victory over Poland of the summer, this time around by a score of 14-2, Austintown claimed the state crown.

Head coach Matt Hamley could not be in attendance during the team’s run through the bracket.  He put a plan in place to make sure his team would be ready to succeed without him physically there. He was still a big part of the game plans.  He couldn’t be prouder of his team, and now he knows it’s time to look to the future. Next season seven of the players on the roster will make the step up to 12U.  He took the time to come on YSN’s Running Point to talk about the state championship, highlight some of the key members of his roster, and much more. LIBERTY FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JOE SIMON

LIBERTY OH- Last season, the rallying call for Liberty football was “Return the Roar.” They took great strides in doing just that. Now though, their new motto is going to be “Ring The Bell.” Their focus is going to be on finishing, and getting the opportunity to ring that victory bell.

Joe Simon has brought passion and energy into the program as head coach. As he returns to the helm, he is focused more than ever to get this team to where he knows they can be. He stopped by YSN’s Running Point to give us a preview of Liberty football. He gives us an insight into the team’s identity, what their goals will be this season, and so much more!
