CANFIELD CARDINALS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH MIKE PAVLANSKY

CANFIELD, OH – The Canfield Cardinals once again are coming into a season off of a very impressive playoff run the year before. Last season the Cards fell in the regional semifinals to the Chardon. Hilltoppers. This year however, the Cardinals are looking to continue that success and build upon those runs and try to get over the hump. Returning this year is a very experienced senior class led by quarterback Broc Lowry, an Indiana Hoosiers commit, which Coach Pavlansky will look to lean on all season long.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Pavlansky at Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield this week to get a season preview on the Cardinals, what the roster is looking like this year with key pieces on all sides of the ball, what the schedule is all about for the Cards, as well as, a week one preview as Canfield will travel to Beloit on Friday night to take on the West Branch Warriors!

CAMPBELL VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH TYLER ALLEN

CAMPBELL OH- There is excitement brewing in Campbell around their volleyball program. The players that make up the team are developing a winning culture. After earning a tournament win a year ago, confidence has gone way up. They are returning plenty of talent from last year’s team, and with a small number of seniors Campbell promises to not just be a contender this season, but in the future as well.

Campbell head coach Tyler Allen is pouring all the energy he has into the program which is the reason why his players have bought in. Coach Allen came on YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a clear picture of outlook of the season. He talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about his team’s winning mentality, what it means to him to coach this team, and much more. POLAND GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH NEIL HUDA

POLAND OH- The Poland girls soccer team has been one of the most successful programs in the area. They haven’t had a losing record since 2015.  The Bulldogs are coming off a season where they won the NE8, sharing it with South Range.  Now with a ton of the same faces returning to the team this year, Poland will be hard to knock off the top spot.

Head coach Neil Huda was kind enough to join YSN’s Running Point this week to share a solid preview of Poland’s program.  He talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about the successful mindset of the athletes at Poland, coaching a team while his son is shining on the boys side, and much more. CARDINAL MOONEY VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH TONI CHAHINE

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Cardinal Mooney volleyball has always been a proud program, that has had plenty of talent come through their doors. Their overall record might not always be flashy, but their schedule is harder than most, and puts them in a perfect place for postseason runs.  This year, there is a sense of familiarity mixed with a since of new.  A lot of returning faces that will step into new roles, and a new head coach that has been with the program. Toni Chahine steps in as the new leader of the Cardinals. She already Carrie’s the head coaching title during lacrosse season.  Now it’s her turn to swing it in volleyball.

Coach Chahine came on YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a clearer picture on what Mooney Volleyball will look like this season.  She talked with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about the new positions returning players will find themselves in, juggling being a coach in every sports season, and much more. CANFIELD BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE BAILEY

CANFIELD OH- It seems like everywhere that Mike Bailey goes in coaching career has found tremendous success. He’s broken program records, he’s taken a team to the state tournament, and now he looks to another challenge. Bailey takes over in his first year of coaching at Canfield for the boys program. Canfield has had plenty of success as a program in the last decade, only 1 out of the last 11 seasons has not ended in a winning record. It would appear that Mike Bailey is poised for even more success.

Coach Bailey has become a mainstay on YSN’s Running Point, and gladly came on the show again this season to give us a preview of Cardinals boys soccer.  He talks to Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about what was most important to establish while taking over the program, being part of the Canfield coach’s room, and so much more. CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT BRITTON

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Every season, no matter what the regular season record ends up being for Cardinal Mooney boys soccer, they are a threat to make a deep tournament run. They proved that last year when they took an 8-5-6 record into the tournament, yet still took the eventual state runner up Crestview to overtime in a 3-2 loss. Head coach Matt Britton hopes he can instill a hungry attitude into his players once again to try and get back to Columbus. They’re schedule will definitely expose them to the proper competition level.

Coach Britton was kind enough to join YSN’s Running Point this week to help us get a better look into his team. He talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about his team’s tough schedule, what the team’s identity will be this season, and much more. WEST BRANCH GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH CHERYL FICCO

BELOIT OH- West Branch girls soccer is the definition of sustained success. As head coach Cheryl Ficco enters her sixth season at the lead of the program, they stare at a possible ninth consecutive EBC championship. She’s won 6 in a row as head coach, and looks to take a more experienced group into 2022 to make the streak continue.  West Branch has a ton of returning talent that will be a year older, and hopefully that can be a difference maker come tournament time.

Coach Ficco took the time to hop on to YSN’s Running Point this week to help us preview the Warriors season. She talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about what it has taken to build this dynasty, what the experience this year will mean for the team, and so much more. POLAND VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ALEAH DIAMOND

POLAND OH- Consistency is key to building a quality program. Poland volleyball has struggled to find stability when it comes to their coaching staff this decade.  They may have finally found it though in Aleah Diamond who enters her third season as head coach of the program.  You’ll be able to start to see her philosophy, culture, and personality reflect in her team’s play.  Poland will battle all season long in a tough NE8.  They’re a team that is on the cusp of being a serious threat to the top.

Coach Diamond was able to join us on YSN’s Running Point this week to help us preview the upcoming season. She talked to Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about the building of a culture in the program, what she has enjoyed most about being the head coach over the last 3 seasons, and much more. MINERAL RIDGE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH BRIAN SHANER

MINERAL RIDGE OH- The 2022 edition of The Mineral Ridge Rams are ready to rumble! Coming off a season where The Rams recorded 4 wins last year; Head Coach, Brian Shaner returns for another year at the helm in Ram Country.

The goal for the season? Get more conference wins! As it is well known that the scarlet tier of The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC) is one of the strongest in the area. Competing with the conferences “Big Four”, as Coach Shaner would call them, will be a big determining factor on the season Mineral Ridge will have.

With 3 of the 4 matchups (Western Reserve, Springfield and Lowellville) being home games this season for The Rams. Life without Mark Bunch will be the story going into this season; however, there’s more than enough young talent that is beyond hungry to get some snaps this season!  You do not want to miss this edition of Coaches Corner, as The Running Point crew was able to catch up with Mineral Ridge Head Coach Brian Shaner in this YSN exclusive!!

WESTERN RESERVE VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH KRISIE HUGHES

BERLIN CENTER OH- When you think of a family name that has defined Western Reserve volleyball through the years, most people have Hughes pop into their mind. Aleah Hughes shined as a Blue Devil, and went on to have an amazing career at Youngstown State, her sister Alexis did the same, and now Alyvia is featured as a main stay on the team. So the next logical step would be to put a Hughes in the head coaching chair. Krisie Hughes takes the reigns for her first year at the helm of a program that is coming off a 22 win season.

Coach Hughes was kind enough to join YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a sneak peak of the 2022 Blue Devils. She talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about her family legacy, the pressures of keeping up the success of the program,  and much more.
