WELLSVILLE VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JONATHAN STOKES

WELLSVILLE OH- Wellsville went further than any other volleyball team in the area last season. The Tigers made it to the regional finals just one step away from Wright State.  The experience has made the Tigers hungry. As coach Jonathan Stokes says, they have a taste for what it feels like, and once you get a taste you crave to get more.  With a ton of players coming back for more fun, the Tigers have to be one of the favorites to make it to the state tournament.

Coach Stokes joined YSN’s Running Point this week right after practice live from Wellsville’s gym to talk about the upcoming season. He spoke to Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about the returning stars, filling some of the gaps last year’s seniors left, and so much more. WARREN JFK VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SAM YOUNG

WARREN OH- We have heard the messages, the excitement of Warren JFK volleyball is bubbling up as the season gets closer. The Eagles feature a ton of experience this year, only graduating two seniors a year ago. While those two’s leadership qualities will be missed, the hope is that someone new will step in to a leadership role and help the Eagles fly high.

Heading up the exciting Eagles team is head coach Sam Young. He was kind enough to join YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a solid preview of the season. He talks with Ty Bartell about some of the big names on the team, what his biggest focus is with the team, and much more. HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MAGGIE MARTIN

COLUMBIANA OH- Heartland Christian has always had a tradition of excellence inside their volleyball program. They’ve especially excelled over the years at their defense, and serving. Coming in to this year however, they might have a new strength. The Lions come in to 2022 featuring a ton of height in their hitters. Add that to a returning setter, and not only could their defense be lock down as always, Heartland aims to smash their way to a high octane season.  At the helm of the Lions is one of the most energetic coaches in volleyball in Maggie Martin.

Coach Martin found some time in her schedule to join the boys on Running Point.  She talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about where she gets her energy on the sidelines, the mental aspect of the game she hopes to instill in her athletes, and much more. CANFIELD VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH KRISTA NESBITT

CANFIELD OH- It’s the start of a new era in Canfield for their volleyball program. The Cardinals will face 2022 with a new coach at the helm. Krista Nesbitt enters the fold to lead the Cardinals. Last year, Nesbitt was the JV coach for the Cardinals, and so she was at every step of the journey. That has helped her in taking over the job as the varsity head coach.  She knows the players, skill sets, and culture that has driven the Cardinals to success for years.

Coach Nesbitt was able to hop on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her first year with the reigns. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about the senior leadership her team will have, what the strengths of the team will be, and much more. SOUTH RANGE GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH KELSEY BENYO

CANFIELD OH- South Range girls soccer over the past two seasons have racked up more postseason wins than any other girls program in the area. Both years under head coach Kelsey Benyo have been blessed with success. They are back to back district champions, and have NE8 championships to carry around as well. This year they will have to prove their merit. They will have a lot of new faces after graduating a big senior class. The pieces they do return will have to step into bigger roles than ever as leaders. It’s time for the Raiders to prove just how good of a program they’ve built.

Coach Benyo was kind enough to drop in on the latest episode of YSN’s Running Point to give us a preview of the upcoming season. She talks to Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about the culture of the program, the tough schedule they have in front of them, and much more. BOARDMAN VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ALYSSA BIRCH

BOARDMAN OH- Boardman is building a volleyball culture inside the walls of their gymnasium. That has been the goal of head coach Alyssa Birch ever since she took the job. Building a culture starts at the bottom, and Birch has built a strong youth following at Boardman.  Because of that, her fairly young team is going to be ready to shine bright this season. The experience of being thrusted into new situations last year has put the Spartans in a position where they return more starters than most.

Coach Birch came on to YSN’s Running Point from her class room this week to give us a solid peak inside the program. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about how much experience was gained last season, some names to watch out for while watching the team this year, and so much more. WEST BRANCH FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH TIM COOPER

BELOIT OH- West Branch football might just be the most exciting program coming into the 2022 season. With standout players like Dru DeShields coming back in to the fold, and a youth program that has had nothing but success recently, the Warriors plan on being a mainstay in the top of the area’s rankings.  They will be led by Tim Cooper who is in his first season at the helm. He has been with the program already though, and former head coach Ken Harris still remaining on staff, the culture of the Warriors shouldn’t shake one bit.

To help us preview the upcoming Warriors season, Coach Cooper came on YSN’s Running Point this week. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the excitement surrounding the team this season, bringing up the young talent, and much more. SPRINGFIELD VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ANGELA JONES

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Is it true that Springfield’s record wasn’t exactly what they wanted last season? Yes. However sometimes you go through things so you can learn and grow from them. Now, a Springfield team that brings six seniors to the fold this season, the experience of the past is about to pay it forward. The Tigers bring a ton of height to their front row, and that makes them dangerous. As they say, you can’t coach height. However, there are plenty of things that returning head coach Angela Jones can coach her team.

Coach Jones graciously took time out of her day to hop on to YSN’s Running Point.  She gave us a pretty good preview of this Springfield team, and what they’ll bring to the table. She also talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about the experience her group will have, what to expect out of the MVAC Scarlett tier, and so much more. MCDONALD VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE KLOCKNER

Rolling into the start of fall sports for the 2022 campaign, and The McDonald Blue Devils will once again have a volleyball team! A team that is now past its infancy and has moved into a solid position that has them competing for the top spot in their conference. The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference’s Scarlet Tier could be described as a who’s who of volleyball competition in the county. Highlighted by teams such as Western Reserve, Mineral Ridge and Jackson Milton, The MVAC looks to be a gauntlet for the conference crown.

McDonald is a team going into year four of their volleyball program, looking to continue the trend they have set of getting more wins every season. After the 2021 campaign, The Blue Devils saw themselves fall just short in the conference race to another set of Blue Devils in Western Reserve. Coming in second is a language that McDonald athletes and fans alike do not understand, as the village is ready to get rowdy in hopes of the teams first conference championship this year!  Catch McDonald as they will be in action for their first game of the season, Saturday, August 20th against The Columbiana Clippers!

CRESTVIEW VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ALISHA AUER

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview has been one of the most consistently successful volleyball programs in the area. They are coming off a thrilling season where they finished the regular season undefeated, and came within two points of a huge upset over Independence in regionals. While they lost some key pieces to graduation, they have a handful of familiar names returning, and a ton of new faces to be excited about. Could this be the season that Crestview takes the next step and punches a ticket to Wright State? Alisha Auer hopes so as she returns for yet another season leading g this dominant program.

Coach Auer came on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her returning stars, and some new faces fans will have to take note of. She also talks to Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about how hungry the team is after last season, how they’ve been able to sustain success, and so much more.
