LIBERTY BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH LEVON LAMB

YOUNGSTOWN OH-  It hoops season Liberty, and The Leopards are looking to be the main spot this basketball season! With basketball season always a fun one in The Liberty Leopards community, this year looks to have the added intrigue of a wide open conference. Playing in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference’s (MVAC) Grey Division, The Leopards are looking to scratch and claw their way into contention for the top spot!

YSNs Ty Bartell got the chance to talk with The Leopards Head Coach Levon Lamb in this season’s first edition of Coaches Corner. NILES OH-  Coming off a 10-13 season a year ago, The Niles Mckinley Red Dragons boys basketball team are looking to make a big splash in the 2023-24 campaign! Led by Head Coach Jesse Hardin Jr. this year, The Red Dragons are looking to compete in the very tough, yet, very competitive North East 8 (NE8) Conference.

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- It’s basketball season for Beaver Local once again! Coming off a 12-12 season last year, The Beavers feel like last season will be a perfect launching point into this season. With a fair amount of experience coming back across the board, Beavers Head Coach Nick Miller feels like this year’s edition of The Beavers are going to be a high-flying, action-packed group.

Talking with Coach Miller, YSNs Ty Bartell and him discuss this upcoming season. Focusing on the points of growth Beaver Local looks to have with their returners as well as the schedule put in front of them that they will have to navigate through with some tough competition end to end. They also discuss the makeup of this year’s team, the expectations and goals and, of course, the rivalry with East Liverpool. All that and more in this edition of Coaches Corner on YS

LABRAE BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH CHAD KISER

LEAVITTSBURG OH- LaBrae is coming off a MVAC championship season in boys basketball, and the future couldn’t possibly look brighter.  The Vikings are bringing back a big percentage of their scoring from a season ago, and they still have plenty in the tank for another run. It won’t be easy though, the MVAC Gray Tier is loaded with teams who want to take the title for themselves. The championship banner was split into three last year, and no one wants to share this time around.

SALEM BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JEFF ANDRES

SALEM OH- It’s time for another basketball season inside Salem. We know the Quaker Crazies will be rocking as always, but the question remains what will they be rocking to? Not to worry! YSN has you covered! The Quakers return a slew of talent that should leave the primed to make some noise in the EBC, that will feature plenty of challenges.  It’s time to get loud for Salem basketball!

COLUMBIANA OH- When building a program that has a community that supports the culture, it takes someone with the heart of a lion. Aptly named, The Heartland Christian Lions boys basketball Head Coach Josh Scott is someone with a ton of heart! The always respectable and dangerous Lions sported a 12-11 record a year ago, and although they lost some senior leadership, Heartland Christian feels like this season has potential to be a big one!

helm and have found it with Head Coach Scott Libb. Returning as the skipper for another season, Coach Libb looks to continue building his culture while translating it to success for The Lions. Scheduling independently, Heartland Christian believes they have put together a schedule and a squad the community will want to see this season!

HOWLAND OH- When it comes to The All-American Conference (AAC) in boys basketball, it is a gauntlet to say the least. However, this season feels like any one of the five representing teams in the conference can claim the AAC crown at the end of the season. Including The Howland Tigers! A very young team a season ago, achieved above expectations, sporting a 12-12 record in their previous campaign, Howland looks to build off the .500 record.

Head Coach of The Tigers, Dan Bubon got the chance to chat with YSNs Ty Bartell about the takeaways from last year, the competition inside the conference and the goals for The Tigers this year. The Falcons have put together one of the toughest schedules you’ll find on YSN.  Head coach Brian Beany wants to make sure when tournament time hits that his team is ready for any style of basketball opponents will throw at them.  The Falcons have a ton of talent at their disposal, and experience to go with it.
