TIGERS KEEP ON KEEPING ON

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield girls soccer continues to be one of the more productive programs in the area. They improved upon their record on Monday night with a 4-2 win over a tough Crestview team.

Gracie Venturella and Ava Vecchione each scored two goals and each had an assist for the Tigers tonight.

Brionna holt added two assists of her own. Caitlin Cappelli captured sixteen saves for Springfield. The Tigers improve to 6-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the MVAC.

Springfield welcomes Champion to Tiger Stadium Monday, October 4.

CRESTVIEW FIGHTS THROUGH WARRIORS

BROOKFIEKD OH- The last time Brookfield and Crestview squared off on the volleyball court, it was the Rebels that swept three competitive sets. That match was just 4 days before their second match of the year. This time around, the Warriors snuck a set away from Crestview. But the Rebels fought through it and won the match in 4. (25-19 25-14 19-25 25-14)

Grace Auer led the Rebels with a triple double. She finished with 12 kills, 18 assists, and 16 digs. Lucy Montgomery led the team in kills with 13. She finished with a double double setting up 16 assists. Abbey Emch had a great night at the nets. She finished with 9 kills, 4 blocks, and served up 4 aces.

Lauren Shingledecker, and Anna Reichart both finished the night with impressive numbers. Reichart collected a double double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Shingledecker had 9 kills, and 15 digs. Logan Shingledecker did a great job with back row defense. Bailey Hackett got 3 blocks on the night.

Crestview is now 16-0 on the year and will be back in action Tuesday at Newton Falls. Brookfield will hit the road on Tuesday and travel to LaBrae.

BROOKFIELD TAKES BIG STEP IN MVAC

COLUMBIANA OH- It was a match up of two teams vying for the top spot in the MVAC. Crestview hosted Brookfield in what proved to be a competitive battle. Brookfield was able to come out on top with a 20-13 win.

Donavan Pawlowski went 15/21 on the night through the air for 164 yards. He found the end zone at the best time possible. He scored the touchdown that sealed his team’s win.

Both teams hit the road in Week 7 as Brookfield will travel to Newton Falls, and Crestview will visit LaBrae.

REBELS BROOM BROOKFIELD

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview stayed undefeated on Thursday and added yet another sweep of their tally. Their latest victim was Brookfield, the Warriors competed in each set but couldn’t push through. (27-25 25-22 25-15)

Grace Auer completed a triple double on the night with 13 kills, 15 assists, and 11 digs. Lucy Montgomery added a double double finishing with 10 kills, and 16 assists. Abbey Emch had her best match so far this season, finishing with 14 kills, and also 4 blocks.

Crestview will host a tri match on Saturday with Alliance, and Heartland Christian. Brookfield will take another crack at Crestview on Monday, this time at home.

CRESTVIEW LINKING THINGS TOGETHER OVER CHAMPION

BEAVER CREEK MEADOWS- Crestview standout Emily Hill continued her phenomenal season on the links leading her team with a 38 on Tuesday.  Hill’s team backed her up on the course though, as Matt Wollett shot a 45, Luke Requardt a 49, and Jon Beveridge a 50 en route to a 182-184 victory over Champion.

For the Golden Flashes, Ken Williams had the score to beat with a 35.  While Jacob Witherow shot a 42.  Other scores for Champion included Dylan Howell’s 53 and Buddy Wilson’s 54.

Crestview will rest their clubs until next Tuesday when they Welcome Liberty to town.

CRESTVIEW STAYS ATOP MVAC

GARRETTSVILLE OH- Coming in to Tuesday night, Crestview was on a 52 game conference winning streak dating back to their days in the ITCL in 2016. Newcomers to the MVAC Garfield wanted to have something to say about that. The Lady G-Men came into the night matching Crestview’s undefeated record. Crestview however was way too much for Garfield on this night. They swept the Lady G-Men in straight sets. (25-14 25-13 25-22)

Lucy Montgomery led the attack on the night finishing with 12 kills. She also racked up 7 assists, 3 blocks, and 5 aces. Grace Auer finished the game leading the team in digs with 10. She also finished with 8 assists, and 8 kills. Abbey Emch continued to cause problems at the net. She blocked 4 balls, and got 5 kills.

Both teams return to MVAC action on Tuesday as Crestview hits the road to Champion, and Garfield will travel to Campbell.

MONTGOMERY’S TRIPLE DOUBLE LIFTS CRESTVIEW PAST CARDINALS

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview keeps on rolling in the 2021 season. Their latest victim was Cardinal Mooney, who got swept by the Rebels on Saturday morning. (25-21 25-10 25-19)

Crestview was led by Lucy Montgomery who finished with yet another triple double on the season. She tallied 19 kills, 13 assists, and 11 digs. Grace Auer did the bulk of the setting on the day finishing with 23 assists. She also had 8 kills, and 8 digs. Abbey Emch got in to double figures with 11 kills. She added 5 blocks.

Alaina Scavina led the Cardinals finishing with 12 kills, and 9 digs. Angelina Rotunno set up the offense with a match high 25 assists. Alaina Francis led the team in digs with 13.

Crestview will make up their previously scheduled game at Garfield on Monday. Mooney will stay on the road and travel to Springfield on Monday.

REBELS LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE AGAINST LIBERTY

LIBERTY OH- Liberty has been a team all season that have found themselves in close games. Crestview would have none of that on Friday however as they went on the road and dominated 49-13.

Anthony Cusick was responsible for 4 touchdowns on the night. Two of his scores came with his legs, the other two with his arm. Cusick threw for 270 yards on the night. Roclen Bettura continued to be a force on the ground gaining 122 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns.

Bright spots were few and far between for Liberty, but Chris Cunningham did catch a 44 yard touchdown pass from DC Ferrell.

Crestview will welcome Brookfield into Revel country next Friday, while Liberty will travel to Campbell.

REBELS CONTINUE WIN STREAK

COLUMBIANA OH- Inthe season and change that MVAC volleyball has been in existence, Crestview hasn’t lost a game inside the conference. That did not change on Thursday as Crestview swept Liberty. (25-18 25-16 25-14)

Lucy Montgomery collected yet another double double with 17 kills, and 11 assists. Grace Auer also added another double double to her season finishing with 12 kills and 17 assists. Abbey Emch was strong at the net with 7 kills, and a block.

Crestview will test themselves outside the conference on Saturday as they travel to Mooney. Liberty also has a non conference test ahead on Monday as they host Western Reserve.

MOORE AND SUTTON BOTH COMMIT TO AVE MARIA

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview stand outs Karsyn Moore, and Kaedyn Sutton have both committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Ave Maria University in Florida.

In 2020 Karsyn Moore batted .400 for Crestview. She went the whole season without committing a single error behind the dish. Her future college coach Mike Kernan had high praise for her defense saying “Karsyn is the best all around defensive catcher I have coached during my career”

Sutton has shined in the circle since coming on the scene her freshman season at Crestview. In 2020, she finished with an ERA of 3.25. She pitched all but 20 of the innings pitched for her team.

Both Karsyn, and Kaedyn are two of the marquee players to watch come the new softball season as they’ll finish their careers at Crestview without needing to worry about their destinations after high school.
