PALESTINE SETS UP TITLE GAME

LEETONIA OH A big defensive 1st quarter of play lead the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs to a 38-34 win over the Leetonia Lady Bears in Wednesday nights play.

The Bulldogs defense stopped the Bears offense as they jumped out to a 12-2 1st period advantage.  The Bears made a game of it in the 2nd half out-scoring the Bulldogs 20-13  in the final to quarters.

Jocyln Fristik paced the Bulldogs with 12 points followed by Payton Sherry with 9 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Leetonia was lead by Allison Francosky with 9 points.

East Palestine will travel to United for a rematch with Eagles on Thursday. The game will decide who sits atop the EOAC. Leetonia will host Heartland on Saturday.

VALLEY PUSHES BEARS ASIDE

LEETONIA OH A huge 3rd period scoring spree helped the Valley Christian Eagles take down the Leetonia Bears 49-34 in Tuesdays hoops action.

The Eagles out-scored the Bears 20-2 in the 3rd quarter after only leading by 2 points entering the period.

Pacing the way for Valley was Mark Revere with 16 points.

The Bears Dylan Lennon scored 17 points and Ian Davis added 11 points. The Eagles improved to 9-4 and 8-2 in the EOAC return right back into action as they travel to Lisbon to take on the Blue Devils in a key league battle Wednesday and Leetonia goes to United on Friday.

BULLDOGS UPEND LEETONIA

EAST PALESTINE OH- The East Palestine Lady Bulldogs upped their season record to 4-1 with a win over the visiting Leetonia Bears 59-46.After a knotted up 1st quarter the Bulldogs out-scored the Bears 48-35 in the final three frames.

Senior Joclyn Fristik led the Bulldogs in scoring netting 20 points with her teammates Morgan Rutledge adding 15 points and Payton Sherry dropping in 10 points and also grabbing 12 boards.

Leetonia, who drops to 10-6  were led by the duo of Megan Rosko and Haleigh Brock each scoring 12 points.

Both teams return home  to the hardwoods Saturday with Leetonia hosting Maplewood and East Palestine hosting United.

BEARS DON’T MISS A BEAT AGAINST SEBRING

LEETONIA OH- Taran Ferry had a big night for the Leetonia Bears as they dropped the Sebring Trojans 55-41 in hardwood action Wednesday night.

Ferry put up a double double with 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to help the Bears to improve to 11-6. Ella Gregorino scored 12 points. The Bears took a 14-8 1st quarter lead and never looked back.

Sebring was paced by a 15 point effort from Emma Whaley.

LEETONIA BEATS MUSTANGS IN PHOTO FINISH

LEETONIA OH- The Leetonia Bears tied the game up in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime to pull out a  41-38 victory over the visiting Mathews Mustangs in Saturday’s contest.

The Bears  put up 13 4th quarter points while holding the Mustangs to 5 points to send the game into OT. In the extra session Leetonia out-scored Mathews 5-2.

Leetonia improves to 10-5 for the year. Leading the scoring attack for Leetonia was Taren Ferry with 16 points and Allison Francosky dropped in 10 points.

Mathews Bella Greenwood scored 11 points and Brooke Bauer and Ashley Deans each had 10 points.

FERRY LEADS BEARS TO BLOWOUT WIN

The Leetonia Bears put up some big numbers Thursday night as they defeated the Wellsville Tigers 59-9. Leetonia scored 23 points in the opening frame while shutting out the Tigers. The Bears held Wellsville scoreless in the 1st and 3rd quarters of action.

For the 9-4 Bears,Taran Ferry dropped in 17 points while teammate Ella Gregory had 16 points.

Next up for Leetonia is a home contest against Mathew Saturday night.

LISBON PUTS BEARS IN HIBERNATION

LISBON OH- Lisbon jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back as the Blue Devils declawed the Leetonia Bears 69-43.

Lisbon dropped in 12 3-pointers though-out the game with freshman Trevor Siefke canning  6 shots from the 3-point arc and finishing the night with 24 points. Blayne Brownfield also scored 24 points and snagged 8 rebounds.

Leading the visiting Bears was Dylan Lennon with 11 points and teammate Ian Davis scored 10 points. Next up for the 10-3 Blue Devils is a Thursday night home game with Urban Scholars Academy. Leetonia drops to 5-7 and they will host Valley Christian on Friday.

BIG WIN FOR BEARS IN EOAC

LEETONIA OH- Ella Gregorino scored  15 points and Taran Ferry had 14 points to lead the home team Leetonia Bears to a 49-28 win over the Southern Local Indians.

The Bears held a 10 point halftime advantage and dropped in 28 2nd half points to seal the victory.

The Indians Ashley Shroads paced the Indians with 12 points. With the win Leetonia improves to 8-5. The Bears will host Mathews on Saturday.

BEARS PROTECT THEIR DEN AGAINST PALESTINE

LEETONIA OH- A 18-2 1st quarter helped the Leetonia Bears to a 48-25 win over East Palestine. The win improves the Bears to 5-6 for the season while the Bulldogs drop to 0-5.

Dylan Lennon led the way for Leetonia with 17 points and teammate Jaeden Finley dropped in 12 points.

For the Bulldogs Weston Jnes scored 13 points.

Palestine is back in action Saturday as they travel to United to take on the Eagles and Leetonia will travel to Lisbon on Tuesday.

BEARS TAKE A BITE OUT OF SEBRING

LEETONIA OH- The Bears cane storming out of the gates Tuesday night stunning Sebring with a 22 point first quarter. They would go on to win 53-44.

The Bears had three players get in to double figures and were led by Dylan Lennon with 15 points. Ian Davis added a solid 14 points. Marco Ferry contributed 11 points to the Bears offense.

Leading the way for the Trojans was Dylan Johnson with 17 points.

Leetonia looks to keep winning Friday as they host East Palestine. Sebring will look to respond as they travel to Waterloo.
