BLUE STREAKS STRIKE DOWN DRAGONS

Ashtabula, OH- On Monday, the Lakeside Dragons couldn’t keep up with the Madison Blue Streaks and fell 8-0. Madison got on the board in the fourth inning after Anthony Wooten induced Dom Lawrence to hit into a fielder’s choice, resulting in one run scored. Nolan Thomas earned the win for the Madison Blue Streaks, pitching a stellar game. The starting pitcher surrendered just two hits and no runs over seven innings, striking out 12 batters and issuing four walks.

Anthony Wooten took the loss for the Lakeside Dragons, pitching six innings and giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits, while also striking out five and walking three. Despite the outcome, Zion Thomas and Wooten managed to collect one hit each for Lakeside.

Thomas stood out for the Madison Blue Streaks, going 2-for-4 at the plate, leading the team in hits. Madison, OH- In a bounce back off of a tough loss, the Jefferson Falcons overcame the Madison Blue Streaks with a hard-fought 7-5 win on Thursday, fueled by Marillia Matuz’s stellar performance at the plate.

Matuz proved to be the Falcons’ driving force, delivering an outstanding four-hit performance in as many at-bats. Her doubles in the second and sixth innings, along with two timely singles, propelled the Falcons to victory.

Although facing a daunting six-run deficit by the third inning, the Blue Streaks mounted a spirited comeback effort. They narrowed the margin by capitalizing on hits, walks, and defensive miscues, showcasing their determination to stay in the game.

The Falcons seized the initiative early, with Gabby Barress igniting the offense in the second inning with a clutch RBI single. Matuz followed suit with a crucial double, driving in two more runs to extend the Falcons’ lead.

Madison’s offensive onslaught continued in the third inning, as they erupted for eight runs on seven hits, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Falcons. Landon Tomco, Harrison, Evan Smith, and Eddy Gvora led the charge for the Blue Streaks, delivering key hits to extend their team’s lead.

They further extended their lead in the third inning, courtesy of RBI singles by Semple and Ella Masony, putting the Falcons on the back foot early in the game.

Madison continued their offensive onslaught in the fourth inning, tallying five runs on four hits, highlighted by a dynamic performance from Natalie Best and Semple, who delivered clutch hits to drive in runs.

Despite a valiant effort from Olivia Lewis on the mound for the Falcons, who battled through four innings, the Blue Streaks’ offense proved too potent to contain, amassing 10 hits and eight runs during Lewis’s tenure.
