UNITED STEALS THEIR WAY PAST SALEM

HANOVERTON, OH- The United Eagles continue to deliver in the clutch in the early going of 2019.  On Friday, it was the stellar pitching and timely hitting that allowed them to walk away with another victory.

In the first inning, Salem got their offense started. Lane Rhodes grounded out, scoring one run. The Quakers would also put up three runs in the seventh inning. Salem‘s big inning was driven by walks by Blaise Exline, Billy Blackburn and by Ricky Enlow.

Leyman was in mid-season form and pitched United to victory. He surrendered four runs on four hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Hahlen threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Josh Young took the loss for Salem. He surrendered seven runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three.  Offensively, Bryce OwenYoungJoey Watson, and Blaise Chaffin each collected one hit to lead Salem.

United scattered ten hits in the game. Block, Parker Hydrick, and McDevitt each racked up multiple hits for United. Magnuson led United with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.

EAGLES SOAR PAST LISBON LATE

LISBON, OH- The Lisbon Blue Devils lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to United on Monday. The Devils looked to have the game locked up in the top of the seventh leading by three runs with one away in the final frame.  The game was quickly tied at three with United batting in the top of the seventh when Black singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Black also earned the victory on the hill for United. He surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten.

For Lisbon, Garrett Cox took the loss. He allowed three hits and five runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none.  Senior Logan Bell started the game for the Devils and pitched a gem. He allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 13 and walking one.  Offensively, Josh Entrikin led Lisbon with two hits in four at-bats.

United Senior, Hydrick went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Eagles in hits.

HYD’ AND SEEK

United Local Senior, Parker Hydrick has been a key cog in the Eagle Basketball Revival.  Currently averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists per game, Hydrick commands respect from his opponents on both sides of the court.

He’s not the type of young man that boasts or brags about his achievements, either.  In fact, he’s one of the most modest individuals you’ll meet.  It’s much like pulling teeth to get him to take credit for what he’s done while in the program, he gives all the credit to his teammates and coaches.  However, when it comes down to winning, nobody wants that more than Parker, and there’s no hiding the fact that he’s taking aim at a long flight during the OHSAA Tournament.
