A MILESTONE NIGHT IN MINERAL RIDGE

It was a night filled with milestones and remarkable performances in Mineral Ridge as the Rams hosted Sebring in a volleyball showdown. The Rams delivered an outstanding performance, clinching victory in three sets with scores of 25-8, 25-6, and 25-11. However, it wasn’t just the win that made this night special; it was the individual achievements of two standout players.

Sammie Aulet, the Rams’ exceptional setter, reached a remarkable milestone by collecting her 2,000th career assist. This achievement solidifies her status as one of the program’s all-time greats and sets her on a path to potentially surpass her sister Danielle’s program record of 2,272 assists.

Ava Hulett, another key player for the Rams, achieved her own milestone by notching her 1,000th career dig. This significant accomplishment highlights her prowess as a defensive force on the team. As she continues to add to her impressive career statistics, she’s undoubtedly become a cornerstone of the Rams’ success.

In terms of the match itself, Aulet’s remarkable setting abilities were on full display as she finished with 26 assists, orchestrating the offense with precision. Faith Schneider led the offensive charge with 11 kills, while Hulett added 8 kills, and Anastasia Busse contributed 5 kills. Mikayla Russell showcased her defensive skills with 12 digs, anchoring the Rams’ backline, while Sheyalize Bonilla also chipped in with 7 digs and a remarkable 7 aces. Busse, too, made her presence felt with 8 aces.

On the Sebring side, Blake Thomas stood out with 4 kills, putting up a valiant effort against a strong Rams defense.

 

ROCKETS HAVE A BIG REBOUND

LOWELLVILLE OH- Lowellville’s volleyball team rebounded with a triumphant four-set victory over Sebring, demonstrating their resilience and determination to get back on track. The match unfolded with closely contested sets, with final scores of 23-25, 25-12, 26-24, and 25-23, ultimately favoring Lowellville.

Key players for Lowellville made significant contributions to secure the victory. Aryana Romano showcased her offensive prowess with 8 kills and contributed 8 digs, highlighting her impact on both ends of the court. Mia Mangine displayed her versatility with 5 kills, 4 aces, and 11 digs, showcasing her ability to score and serve effectively while also contributing defensively.

Alyssa Kuzan played a pivotal role in facilitating the team’s offense, tallying an impressive 18 assists. Defensively, Sophia Alfano showcased her skills with 18 digs, reinforcing Lowellville’s backcourt. Bella Willrich was instrumental in the team’s defensive efforts, amassing an impressive 22 digs.

Despite a competitive showing by Sebring, Lowellville’s tenacity and teamwork allowed them to secure the victory and regain their momentum. With this win under their belts, Lowellville looks ahead to their next challenge as they host Mathews on Wednesday.

RESERVE JUST KEEPS WINNING

BERLIN CENTER OH- Western Reserve showcased their dominance on the volleyball court with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sebring, with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, and an impressive 25-4 in the final set. Alyvia Hughes, the standout player of the match, achieved a remarkable milestone as she recorded her 1000th career kill during this outstanding performance.

Alyvia Hughes was a force to be reckoned with, contributing significantly to her team’s success. She achieved a double-double with an astonishing 15 kills and 10 digs, showcasing her prowess at both the net and in the back row. Her versatility and skill were undeniable, making her a vital asset to the Western Reserve team.

Assisting Hughes in her impressive performance were Haylee Fellows with 20 assists and Quincy Miller with 10 assists. Their precise sets allowed Hughes and her teammates to execute their plays effectively and score critical points throughout the match.

Defensively, Ally Jones stood out with 14 digs, ensuring that the Western Reserve team maintained control over the match. The final set’s score of 25-4 was a testament to the team’s dominance on the night.

RIDGE ON A ROLL

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge delivered a commanding performance in conference play, sweeping Sebring in three decisive sets with scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-3.

The Mineral Ridge team exhibited remarkable skill and teamwork on the court. Faith Schneider emerged as the star of the match, securing a double-double with an impressive 17 kills and 12 digs, along with a crucial block. Ava Hulett made significant contributions with 6 kills, 2 aces, and a solid 17 digs. Gianna Wilson and Anastasia Busse each added 5 kills to the offensive firepower. Samantha Aulet orchestrated the offense brilliantly, accumulating 33 assists while also recording 8 digs and 2 aces.

With this dominant win, Mineral Ridge remains focused on conference play, looking ahead to their Tuesday matchup against Lowellville. This victory not only showcased their strength in the conference but also emphasized their commitment to excellence on the volleyball court.

HEARTLAND OFFENSE POUNDS PAST SEBRING

NEW WATERFORD, OH- Jake Walker threw a gem on Tuesday for Heartland Christian, allowing zero runs and besting Sebring by a score of 22-0

Drew Gault collected four hits in five at-bats to help lead the Lions to victory. Gault doubled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and singled in the fourth.

In the first inning, Heartland Christian got their offense started when Heartland Christian Lions Varsity scored on a stolen base during Gault’s at-bat. Then Gault doubled , driving in one.  The Lions put up eight runs in the fourth inning. Heartland Christian’s big bats were led by Xabi Royo, Kaden Stryffeler, Alex Tsarnas, Matt Kingston, Gault, and Drew Walker, all driving in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for Sebring was a single by Wyatt in the first inning.

Walker earned the victory on the mound for Heartland Christian. Walker went five innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out nine, and walking zero.

Whit took the loss for the Trojans. Whit lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and 14 runs while striking out one.

Heartland Christian collected 12 hits on the day. Gault, Will Morgan, and Stryffeler each collected multiple hits for Heartland Christian Lions Varsity. Gault led Heartland Christian Lions Varsity with four hits in five at-bats. Heartland Christian Lions Varsity stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Walker led the way with three.

Sebring tallied four hits. Wyatt and Kade all managed multiple hits for the Trojans.

RESERVE AVENGES EARLY SEASON LOSS TO SEBRING

BERLIN CENTER OH- The first time Western Reserve and Sebring played each other this season, it didn’t go the Blue Devils. It was a result that stuck in the Blue Devils mind all the until Friday night when the two teams met again. Sebring won the first matchup 49-39, but this time Reserve’s offense was much more efficient.  They grabbed control quickly and cruised this time around to a 62-41 win.

Hayden Fellows had some kind of day for the Blue Devils. He finished with a game-high 19 points.  Luke Ramsey did a lot of hard work in the paint, especially in the second half as he finished with 14 points.  Joe Klasic was also in double figures on the day with 11.

Kade Leisure tied for the game high in points for Sebring with 19 points.  Scott Boston added 8 for the Trojans.

Weatern Reserve will now look ahead to one final tournament tune up on Tuesday as they travel to Salem.  Sebring will try to get some rest before the tournament as they finish the regular season.

SPRINGFIELD ALL SMILES ON SENIOR NIGHT

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield took time on Thursday to honor their four seniors.  Senior nights can bring a whole slew of emotions.  Some teams can have trouble putting those emotions away and get focused for a game. That was a non issue for Springfield. With smiles on their faces they routed Sebring 51-7.

Eight different Tigers scored on the night on their way to their win.  Jacey Mullen paced the way with 12 points.  Fellow senior Peyton Kleim was the only other senior in double figures with 10.  Madi Lesnak, Emily Gerthung, and Kendall Maughan all chipped in 6.

Springfield looks ahead to a big non conference battle on Saturday as they welcome South Range into the jungle.  Sebring is also back at it on Saturday as they host Wellsville.

MIGHTY MAZUR FLEXES FOR WATERLOO

Girls Basketball was out in full force for a Monday night on the network. With a total of 16 matchups, including over half a dozen conference battles, filling the YSN streams! One of those conference matchups occurred in Atwater, or better known as Atsnow this time of the year, when The Vikings welcomed in The Trojans of Sebring. 

Waterloo, taking a different approach in the non-conference slate at the beginning of the season, opted to schedule three tough games right out of the gate. Despite being competitive, The Vikings dropped those three contests; however, it was all to keep their sights set on The Mahoning Valley Athletics Conferences (MVAC) Scarlet Division and defending their crown. 

Following the losses to start the season, The Vikings have quickly bounced back as winners of five straight, including three consecutive conference matchups heading into Monday night. On the other side, The Trojans are looking to get back to the rich basketball tradition that is known at Sebring. Through some growing pains, Head Coach Anthony Agresta plans to be the guy to lead them there. 

With the mismatch, The Vikings wasted little time in jumping ahead early, as a scoring outburst put Waterloo ahead 29-4 after the first quarter and they never looked back. Scoring another 29 points in the second quarter for a total of 58 first half points. Finishing with 82 points overall, it was the largest offensive output from The Vikes this season. 

Abby Mazur had a night that was, quite simply, magical! As the senior was as dangerous as can be from three-point-territory, Mazur nailed down a program record-breaking total of eleven shots from distance! Finishing with 35 total points, Mazur’s major night helped lead The Vikes to victory while leaving a memory for the senior scrapbook that will last forever! 

Both teams look to get back to action this week! Waterloo (5-3) will stay home to host The Akron Firestone Falcons (0-3). For Sebring (0-6) they will look to change their luck against Leetonia (0-7) as The Bears will entertain them, also on Thursday.

TIGERS GET THE JOB DONE

LISBON OH- The top seeded Wellsville Tigers didn’t miss a beat Tuesday night in their district semifinal against Sebring. The Trojans came in flying high on their upset win over Jackson Milton, but the Tigers grabbed momentum early and never let go. They moved on with a sweeping victory. (25-14 25-13 25-16)

Presley Stokes led the way for the Tigers offense capturing a double double with 14 kills and 13 assists.  Alana Amato was a presence at the net with 9 kills and 5 blocks.  Bella Poppelritter had a double double as well with 12 assists, and 10 digs.  Aubri Ramsey led the Tigers defense with 12 digs.

Wellsville moves on to the Division IV Lisbon District Championship.  They will match up with the fourth seeded McDonald Blue Devils.  That matchup is slated for 7:00 on Thursday at Lisbon High School.

SEBRING STUNS BLUE JAYS IN SECTIONAL FINAL

NORTH JACKSON OH- The seeding told you it was going to be a good game on Thursday night as twelfth seeded Sebring matched up with eleventh seeded Jackson Milton.  But Sebring was not in the mood for a tightly contested thriller, and they ran away with the match in sweeping fashion. (25-11 25-15 26-24)

Leading the Trojan offense was Blake Thomas who cashed in 8 kills, and 5 aces.  Mallory Harshman managed to set up a great offense by leading in assists with 11.  Emma Lynn played exceptional defense with 21 digs to lead the Trojans.  Thomas was also in double figures with digs finishing with 14.

Sebring advances to the district semifinals on Tuesday. They’ll be lined up against top seeded Wellsville at Lisbon.  First serve is set for 6:00.
