TIGERS DEFENSE STRONG AS EVER

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield came in to the first round of the playoffs with four consecutive shutouts to their credit. Western Reserve had plans of ending that streak, but Springfield would not be denied. Their defense earned their 5th shutout in a row as they advanced with a 38-0 win.

The Tigers were held to just a field goal on their first drive, making it 3-0. That was a win for the Blue Devils, but they wouldn’t have many more. On their next drive Bo Snyder would cap off their drive with a four yard touchdown. Beau Brungard would then hit a 28 yard touchdown to Nick Slike to make it 17-0 and give the Tigers firm control. Beau Brungard is 6-0 now against Western Reserve. This was the third straight year they’ve met in the playoffs.

Springfield will advance in the playoffs to play Norwayne in Round 2. That game will be at Springfield on Saturday at 7:00.
