HOWLAND CENTER, OH – Despite transitioning to a makeshift field at the football stadium, the Howland softball team made the best of a cold late morning against Berkshire. The bats would be hot all day long as the Tigers dominated the Badgers 17-0 to improve to 2-1 on the season.

It was a game where four players for Howland cashed in at least 3 runs. Madison Schmitz would lead the hitting category as in 4 at-bats, she picked up 3 runs off of 3 hits, as well as 5 RBIs. Starting pitcher Brooke Tatar had her fair share on both sides of the softball as she pitched 3 innings and gave up only 1 hit and struck out 6 batters. At the plate, she compiled 3 runs off of 2 hits and got 3 RBIs. Her backup Callie Vardavas also piled in 2 strikeouts. To close things out, Alyssa Massucci had 3 runs off of 2 hits and 1 RBI.

The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the young season as they play host to Boardman on Tuesday in a rematch of a game played back on March 25th where the Spartans won 7-1. Throughout the first three games, Howland has been able to showcase their ferocious offense, as well as their overall team spirit. They will now look to get into the grind of AAC play on their quest to a district championship.
