WEATHER WOULDN’T SLOW DOWN THE IRISH

STRUTHERS, OHIO – Storms were in the air, but that’s nothing compared to the atmosphere of a classic rivalry. On Wednesday it was time once again for Ursuline and Mooney to do battle.  The latest version of the Holy War on the baseball diamond was taken by the Irish as they beat rival the Cardinals 8-4.

The scoring for Ursuline started in the bottom of the third off of a Tom Groner single that scored one. A five run bottom of the fourth inning ultimately propelled Ursuline to victory.in the inning, Jack Ericson  doubled scoring one run, Nick Bako singled in one run, Dylan Casey scored two on a triple, and Luca Ricchiuti scored a run off of a groundout.

On the hill for Ursuline was Andrew Kirila who allowed zero hits, struck out seven, and one run given up over five and two-thirds innings of work.

Ursuline has a few days rest before they are back in action Monday on the road against the Chardon Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m.
