WILDCATS PULL OFF FANTASTIC COMEBACK

By Eric Hughes

Struthers comes back to beat Girard, 7-6, after trailing 6-3 going into the bottom of the 7th inning the Wildcats never said die.

Struthers went into the second inning with a 2-0 lead, but Girard catching fire on offense and a few Struthers errors made the Cats fall behind early.

The bottom of the 7th started with Chance Laczko and Alec Gryzb reaching base on errors, then Grady Moore being walked to load the bases.  Michael Scavnicky then drove one to right field to bring 3 runners home to tie it 6-6, followed by Anthony Pastella driving one to right field also to bring Scavnicky home for the win.

Chance Laczko went 2-4 and was called into relieve on the mound in the 5th inning, only giving up a couple of hits and one run, which was enough for Struthers’ offense to work with late.

Struthers returns to the field on Wednesday as they take on another NE8 foe Lakeview.  Girard will have the rest of spring break off before they meet up with Hubbard at home on Monday.
