CARDINALS AND LEOPARDS SETTLE FOR SPLIT

CANFIELD OH- With a last second location switch to McCune Park in Canfield, two strong programs met on a Saturday double header. Canfield and Louisville both flexed their muscles on each other in a split of the day. Louisville won game 1 in extras 7-6 and Canfield returned the favor winning game two 4-2.

GAME 1:

Both teams combined for 23 hits in a thrilling opener to the double header. Louisville sparked a rally to come away with a 7-6 win. They scored the game tying Rubin the top of the sixth, and then the game winning run in the top of the eighth.

Matti Benson led the charge going 2-4 with a pair of RBI. Kenzi Denzer continues to impress going 4-5 with a RBI. She scored 2 runs. Kendra Thomas went 2-3.

For Canfield in game one, they were led by Bayann Jadallah who went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Cara Spencer went 1-4 with 2 RBI. Macey Kalina also knocked in a run on a 1-4 day.

GAME 2:

Canfield would respond with some timely offense in game two, mixed in with a great effort in the circle.  After Louisville scored first, Canfield scored runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. They’d earn the split with a 4-2 win.

Gianna Pennunzio knocked in a pair of runs in game two on a 1-3 day. She also scored a run. Madison Angelo had a multiple hit day going 2-3 with a run scored. Bridget Kelly went 1-2 with a walk, a RBI, and a run scored.

Malena Toth held the Leopards down in 7.0 IP. She gave up 1 earned run in 4 hits. She struck out 12.

Jenna Collins still put together a multiple hit day for the Leopards. She went 2-3 with a RBI. Shelby Mayle also knocked in a run while going 1-3.

Canfield gets back to AAC play aiming for their first league win as they travel to Boardman on Monday. Louisville will host Norton on Wednesday. Both games start at 5:00.
