QUAKERS EDGE OUT FIRST CONFERENCE WIN

SALEM OH- It would have been easy for the Quakers to have a let down after in the top of the 5th inning Minerva erased the 3-0 Salem lead scoring 5 runs. Salem would answer with 7 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Morgane Blaine was the starting pitcher for Salem & the sophomore had precision control throughout. She struck out 9 Lions in the game while walking just one batter. Of the 8 runs scored by Minerva just two were earned.

Channing Toy set the tone with a leadoff double to start the bottom of the 1st inning. She would score in that frame. Lauryn Barton bunted her way on base  & Emilee Lewis hit an rbi single to plate Lo Dawg. Up 2-0 into the bottom of the 3rd inning, Salem would push their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the thirds inning as Hadley Carlisle would send a absolute shot to right field for a D-I-N-G-E-R !!!

Minerva scored 5 runs in the top half of the 5th to take the 5-3 lead. That lead wouldn’t last long as Salem scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th. In that frame Mikayla Sneltzer, Channing Toy & Paige Menough all had doubles. Bella Brant, Morgane Blaine & Lauryn Barton all had a hit in the inning too. Mave Johnson & Kassidy Swanson each scored a run in the 5th as well.

Channing Toy threw out another thief trying to steal a base. Lauryn Barton & Emilee Lewis both stole a base for Salem. Hadley Carlisle defensively had 8 chances in the field with 0 errors. Barton would end her evening with 3 hits.
