SPRINGFIELD OUTLASTS RAMS

Springfield defeated Mineral Ridge 10-8 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at eight with the Tigers batting in the bottom of the sixth when Kyle Fusco singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Springfield collected eight hits and Mineral Ridge had six.

The Tigers took an early lead in the second inning. Mitchell Seymour drove in one when Seymour singled.

In the top of the fifth inning, Mineral Ridge tied things up at eight. They scored one run when Chas Cocantone singled.

Springfield tallied five runs in the third inning.  Their big bats were led by Vinny Woods, Seymour, AJ Stallsmith, and Aaron Groner, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Mineral Ridge scored three runs in the fifth inning. Their big inning was driven by a triple by Mark Bunch and a single by Cocantone.

Braden Butler led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Springfield. Butler surrendered seven runs on three hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.

The Tigers tallied eight hits in the game. Groner and Seymour each managed multiple hits. Seymour and Groner each collected two hits to lead.

Mineral Ridge collected six hits on the day. Payton Zupko and Kyle Bickerstaff each collected multiple hits.
