STRONG FINISH PROPELS WARRIORS TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

UNIONTOWN OH- Familiar does net up on Wednesday to decide who would punch their ticket to the district championship. West Branch and Poland have met 8 times out of the last 10 seasons in the tournament. There are no secrets. West Branch was able to finish strong and win the final frame by six points and Take home a 51-40 win.

The game started out back and forth, both teams getting plenty of contribution from the post. With the score tied 10-10 after one quarter, West Branch made mighty push in the second quarter to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room. Anna Lippiatt caught fire in the frame scoring 7 points in the second alone.

Poland hit 3 threes in the 3rd quarter to stay in striking distance and only trail 35-30 after the third. They’d make it 35-32 in the first moments of the final frame, but West Branch flexed their muscles. They scored 16 points in the fourth to keep Poland at bay.

Lippiatt led the way for the Warriors with a tremendous 21 points. Sophie Gregory was also in double figures with 12.

Poland was paced by Mary Brant who finished in double figures with 12 points. Katie McDonald added 8 points, and Sarah Forsythe put in 7.

West Branch advances to the district championship where they’ll matchup with Marlington for the third time this season. The two teams split their regular season matchups. Tip off is set for 7:00 at Lake High School.

Poland ends their season as NE8 championships for the 4th straight season. Their final record is 19-5 (13-1)
