BIG SIXTH INNING POWERS FALCONS OVER URSULINE

STRUTHERS, OH- The Ursuline Irish had fought back to take the lead in the fifth frame.  The Cardiac Kids were at it again.  Then an offensive explosion in the sixth by the Fitch sealed the fate for the Green Machine.  Austintown Fitch defeated Ursuline 10-3 on Saturday thanks to a timely seven runs in a big sixth frame.

Bobby Cavalier took the win for Fitch. He went four innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out six.

Offensively, the Falcons racked up 12 hits. Kenny MisikTJ PirochDerek Franken, and Casey Bokesch each had multiple hits for Fitch. BokeschFrankenPiroch, and Misik all had two hits to lead the team. The Falcons were active on the basepaths as well and stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Piroch led the way with two.

Jeremy Kreuzwieser went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Ursuline in hits.

TACKETT HOMERS, LAKEVIEW CLIPS FALCONS

JEFFERSON, OH- Despite allowing three runs in the third inning, the Lakeview Bulldogs defeated Jefferson Area 8-5 on Wednesday.

Lakeview got on the board in the second inning when Mariah Tackett homered count, scoring three runs.  Lakeview took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Beady Titus‘s sac fly scored one run for Lakeview Bulldogs Varsity and Olivia Kelm drew a walk, scoring one run.

Raegan Schick earned the victory on the rubber for Lakeview. She allowed five hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. Cait Kelm threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Kelm recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for the Lady Bulldogs.

Wilber took the loss for Jefferson Area. She surrendered eight runs on 17 hits over seven innings, striking out six.

Lakeview saw the ball well today, racking up 17 hits in the game. SchickKelmAbbie CampanaLaura GarvinTitus, and Tackett each collected multiple hits for LakeviewSchick led the team with four hits in five at-bats.

Jefferson racked up nine hits in the game. WilberMayesWilber, and Matuz all managed multiple hits for the Lady Falcons.

HIGGINBOTTHAM LEADS FALCONS PAST HOWLAND

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Austintown-Fitch put up seven runs in the sixth on its way to a 13-1 victory over Howland on Tuesday.

Howland got things moving in the first inning. Anthony Massucci drove in one when he singled.

Fitch pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Derek Franken singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Bobby Cavalier singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Lorenzo Russo singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Devin Higginbottham got the win for Austintown-Fitch. He went five innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out six.

Braden Gebhardt led things off on the mound for Howland. He lasted two innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out two. Frankie Manios threw four innings in relief.

Fitch totaled nine hits. CavalierRusso, and Franken each had multiple hits for the Dirty Birds. Cavalier led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Fitch also stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Cavalier led the way with three.

Jared Mindek went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Howland in hits.

FALCONS FLEX ON LAKEVIEW

CORTLAND, OH- The Lakeview Bulldogs fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-2 loss to Jefferson Area on Tuesday. Jefferson Area scored on a single by  Wilber in the first inning, a single by Zeman in the second inning, an error in the second inning, a single by Wilber in the second inning, and a single by Matuz in the second inning.

Wilber led the Jefferson Area to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out six and walking zero.

Cait Kelm took the loss for Lakeview. She lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out four.

Jefferson racked up 13 hits on the day. WilberMatuzH PascarellaWilberHagerdon, and Zeman each managed multiple hits for the Lady Falcons. Jefferson was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Matuz had the most chances in the field with seven.

TAYLOR GOES YARD, LADY FALCONS CAGE TIGERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Fitch squared off against the lady Howland Tigers at 911 field.  Ashley Spalding struck out 9 in five innings as well as going 2-4 with two doubles.

Maddy Taylor went 2-2 with a home run (6), 3 runs scored, 2 RBI and a stolen base as the Lady Falcons put 11 on the board to beat the Tigers 11-1 in 5 innings.

Kayla Kelty and Ashley Fuller also recorded two hits apiece as the Falcons move to 6-1 in the conference.

FITCH STAYS HOT, MERCY RUNS TIGERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Christian Myers led the way for Fitch, going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, and a walk-off home run. Alarik Sierra and TJ Piroch added 2 hits apiece for Fitch.

Patrick Coleman threw the complete game while allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits, and he was aided by great defense by Fitch’s left fielder, Lorenzo Russo.

Fitch improves to 12-4 (6-1 in AAC play) on the season.

GIRARD CAN’T CATCH UP TO JEFFERSON

JEFFERSON, OH- Girard watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-0 loss to Jefferson Area on Tuesday. Jefferson Area scored on a stolen base by Seve Cantini in the first inning and a single by Jack Detweiler in the second inning.

Although the pitching was strong on both sides Jefferson Area pitchers struck out 14, while Girard Indians Varsity only sat down seven.

The only hit for Girard was a single by Braydon Freeland in the second inning.

Andrew Vance led Jefferson to victory on the mound. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out 14 and walking one, while throwing his hat in the ring for a Big Dogs of the Valley nomination in Week 3.

Devin Dutton took the loss for Girard. Pitching his tail off, Dutton went four innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one.

Marc Woods went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jefferson in hits. Jefferson Area was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gary Ghiz made the most plays with 14.

LADY FALCONS SOAR PAST HARDING

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The firm of Simons, Spalding, and Taylor shut down the Raiders 10-2 on Tuesday night.  Lydia Spalding struck out 8 in only 3 innings of work and at the plate was a HR shy of the cycle.

Behind her, Senior Lainie Simons drilled a home run and Maddy Taylor contributed 2 singles and a round-tripper while contributing 3 runs batted in.

FALCONS BATTLE BACK TO REJECT RAIDERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Warren G. Harding set the pace early, but it was the never say die Fitch Falcons that were standing tall at the end of the night.

Warren Harding jumped on the Falcons early, scoring 4 runs in the first inning all with two outs, but it was all Austintown Fitch after that.   Pat Coleman threw the complete game, allowing 4 runs while scattering 7 hits, and striking out 10 in the process.

At the plate for Fitch, Christian Myers belted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd inning to ignite the Falcons’ bats.  Myers would go 2-3 on the night.  Lorenzo Russo and Kenny Misik would add 2 RBI nights to their resume as well. Alarik Sierra and Russo also blazed the basepaths with 3 stolen bags each.

FALCONS FLY PAST GIRARD

GIRARD, OH- The Girard Lady Indians watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-2 loss to Jefferson on Monday. Jefferson took the lead on a double in the first inning and never turned back.

Jefferson got on the board in the first inning when Hagerton doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Samantha Dohy started the game for Girard. She surrendered four runs on 12 hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.  Sahan DedeDohyKaitlyn CulverEmily Semple, and Sophie Griffith each collected one hit to lead the Lady Indians.

Leading the way for the Lady Falcons where HagertonPascarellaWilberS Wilber, and Matuz all had multiple hits for Jefferson. Hagerton led Jefferson with three hits in four at-bats.
