BLUE DEVILS TURN AROUND IN A HURRY

BERLIN CENTER OH- Western Reserve bounced back with a solid 7-2 victory over Lowellville on Wednesday, showing no signs of slowing down.

Katie Byers led the charge for Western Reserve’s offense, going a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI. Ally Jones was also instrumental, going 2 for 2 with a walk and scoring 3 runs. Kaleigh Williams added a hit and an RBI, while Chloeigh Endsley scored a run. Lindsay Jones chipped in with an RBI.

On the mound, Byers was impressive once again, pitching 5 strong innings, allowing 5 hits and no earned runs while striking out 4 batters.

For Lowellville, Giuliana Alfano had a standout performance, going 2 for 2 with an RBI, a walk, and scoring a run. Laila Rivera also contributed with an RBI.

LISBON BRINGS THE ENERGY

LISBON OH- Lisbon put on an offensive clinic on Wednesday night, blasting their way to a commanding 26-1 victory over Leetonia.

The Lisbon offense was firing on all cylinders, with standout performances across the board. Morgan Lively led the charge, going 3 for 4 with 5 RBI and scoring 4 runs herself. Abby Ammon contributed with 2 hits, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored, while Mariah Householder added 2 hits, 3 RBI, and scored 3 times on top of drawing 2 walks. Kamryn Peruchetti also made her mark, driving in 3 runs, drawing 2 walks, and scoring 3 runs.

On the mound, Lively was just as dominant, pitching 3 innings of one-hit ball, allowing no earned runs while striking out 3 batters.

MCDONALD ONE WIN AWAY FROM ANOTHER LEAGUE TROPHY

NORTH JACKSON OH- McDonald took another step closer to the MVAC title on Wednesday, defeating Jackson Milton 4-0 and now standing just one win away from clinching a share of the crown, and two wins from the outright championship.

The McDonald offense got things going early, with Lauren O’Leary leading the charge, driving in 3 crucial runs. Isabella O’Brien went 3 for 4 at the plate, while Miley Titus scored twice on her 2 for 4 performance. Jenna Helco and Kayla Helco also contributed to the scoring, each crossing the plate once.

On the mound, O’Brien was lights out, pitching a complete game shutout and allowing only 1 hit while striking out an impressive 14 batters.

For Jackson Milton, Macayle Thornhill managed a double for the lone hit of the game.

Thornhill pitched well for Jackson Milton, going the distance and allowing 3 earned runs on 11 hits while striking out 7 batters.

REBELS ESCAPE WITH A WIN OVER THE FALLS

COLUMBIANA OH- In a tense defensive battle on Wednesday, Crestview emerged victorious over Newton Falls with a narrow 3-2 win.

The Rebels managed to break the deadlock in the fifth inning, scoring once to take a 3-2 lead, which they held on to for the win.

Chloe Stoops led the Crestview offense, going 1 for 3 with an RBI, while Rylee Cloutier contributed with a 2 for 3 performance at the plate. Madison Frantz and Kerrigan Miller each drove in a run, with Miller also scoring a run herself. Emma Snyder added a hit and a run scored.

On the mound, Snyder was outstanding, pitching a complete game and allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run while striking out an impressive 12 batters.

For Newton Falls, Abby Wolford scored a run and Kara Heckathorn added a hit.

Addison Garro pitched well for Newton Falls, going 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, and striking out 7 batters.

Crestview’s solid defense and clutch hitting secured the victory, maintaining their edge throughout the game and clinching the win in a close contest.

SPARTANS FIND A WAY BACK TO SUCCESS

Boardman bounced back in style on Wednesday with a much-needed win over Southeast, dominating 12-2.

The offense was firing on all cylinders for Boardman, led by Mikayla Rivera and Tori Strines, both hitting home runs. Rivera went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and scored twice, while Strines contributed with a 2 for 3 performance, adding an RBI and scoring a run. Maddie Wymer had a stellar day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and crossing the plate twice, while Ava Freeborough also went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Alex Ward chipped in with a hit, a walk, 2 RBI, and a run scored.

In the circle, Strines delivered a solid performance, pitching 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits, and striking out an impressive 11 batters.

RAIDERS LAY SIEGE TO STRUTHERS

CANFIELD OH- South Range put on a show in their conference matchup against Struthers on Wednesday, racing to a dominating 21-0 run-rule victory.

The Raiders’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with Keira Brogan leading the charge by going a perfect 4 for 4 with 3 RBI and scoring 4 runs herself. Giada Pauline contributed with a 2 for 3 performance, driving in 3 runs and scoring twice, while Solena DeJesus went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Ashley Rupert and Jayli Wilt each had a big day at the plate, with Rupert going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Wilt going 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Anna Aey also made her mark, going 1 for 1 with an RBI and scoring a run.

In the circle, Rupert was lights out, tossing a complete game shutout. In 5 dominant innings, she allowed just 1 hit while striking out 7 batters.

Struthers struggled to get anything going offensively, with Emma Morris recording the lone hit for the team, going 1 for 2.

GRADISHAR COLLECTS CAREER MILESTONES IN CHAMPION WIN

LEAVITTSBURG OH- Champion notched another impressive MVAC win on Wednesday while also celebrating some major milestones. Gabby Gradishar reached her 100th career hit and her 400th career strikeout in the same game.

At the plate, Gradishar led the charge for Champion, going 2 for 3 with a home run, an RBI, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored. Bella Meyer and Bella Weber each contributed with 2 hits, with Meyer driving in 2 runs and Weber scoring twice. Grace Hadley added another hit and an RBI while drawing a walk and crossing the plate twice. Addie Warzala chipped in with a hit and a walk.

In the circle, Gradishar was dominant, pitching a complete game and allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits while racking up an impressive 17 strikeouts.

On the LaBrae side, Riley Rowe led the offense with a 2 for 3 performance and scoring a run, while Leah DeArmitt drove in a run. Mariah Jones and Shelby Bragg each contributed with a hit.

In the pitching department, DeArmitt and Rowe combined for 7 innings, surrendering 10 hits and 5 earned runs. Rowe struck out 4 batters, while DeArmitt struck out 1.

COLUMBIANA CLIMBS TO EOAC TITLE

HANOVERTON OH- Columbiana pitcher, Alex Eusebio, provided the Clippers second shutout performance of the week against the United Golden Eagles as the Clippers beat United 7-0 on Wednesday at Firestone Park in Columbiana.  Eusebio struck out 14 while allowing only two hits and one walk over seven shutout innings as the Clippers clinched a tie for the EOAC Championship.  On Monday, Columbiana’s Devin Daugherty also went seven shutout innings against United in the Clipper’s 1-0 victory in Hanoverton.

Ian Less led off the game with his first of two hits, a triple to right-center.  He was brought home by Colin Keleman’s sacrifice fly before Daugherty doubled and Eusebio brought him home with a single as the Clips took a 2-0 lead in the first.  Dylan Hogan knocked in two runs with a single in the second. Eusebio later hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a run, while Daugherty sandwiched two hits around two walks as he reached base four times.  Avery Young and Reese Roush also knocked in runs for Columbiana.

United’s Parker Newburn got the start and went four innings, giving up four runs on four hits and eight walks, striking out two.  Quentin Taylor came on in the fifth inning and gave up one earned run on two hits, walking one and striking out two.  Will Swanson (single) and Taylor (double) provided the two hits for the Golden Eagles.

Columbiana, (14-7 overall, 10-0 EOAC) has three non conference games in the next three days before a two game series with East Palestine that will determine the EOAC Championship. The Clippers must win one of the two to clinch the Conference for the third time in four years.  Before that, the Clippers travel to West Branch on Thursday, before a Senior Day game Friday with Heartland and a Saturday afternoon special at Howland.

United, (12-5 overall, 8-2 EOAC), will be on the road to finish off the week, playing at Beaver Local on Thursday and at Carrollton on Friday.

 

CROSTON GOES YARD IN 4-3 VICTORY OVER MUSTANGS

Andover, OH- In a closely contested matchup, the Pymatuning Valley Lakers secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Grand Valley Mustangs on Wednesday, despite being out-hit by their opponents.

Grand Valley’s Payton Plizga led the offensive charge for the Mustangs, collecting two hits on the day. Plizga also showcased their pitching prowess, tallying an impressive 12 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and four runs over six innings of play.

The Lakers wasted no time in making their mark on the game, as Croston launched a powerful homer to left field in the first inning, driving in two runs and setting the tone for the match. Pymatuning Valley added another run in the third inning, with Haines delivering a clutch single to extend their lead to 3-1.

On the mound, Croston proved to be a formidable force for the Lakers, pitching a complete game and allowing just four hits and three runs over seven innings. Croston’s stellar performance included nine strikeouts and demonstrated their resilience in high-pressure situations.

Despite the Lakers’ offensive firepower and solid defensive play, Grand Valley managed to keep the game competitive, with Justin Hagan leading the charge with two RBIs. Blake Taylor showcased patience at the plate, drawing two walks, contributing to Grand Valley’s six walks accumulated throughout the game. Plizga’s speed on the bases was evident as they stole two bases during the matchup.

Offensively, Croston also made significant contributions at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and demonstrating their versatility as a pitcher and hitter. Croston’s two stolen bases further showcased their athleticism and impact on the game.

The Lakers’ defensive efforts were highlighted by their flawless fielding, as they committed no errors throughout the game. Vickery was particularly active in the field, making the most chances with nine.

Looking ahead, the Grand Valley Mustangs will aim to bounce back as they prepare to face Crestwood on Friday. Meanwhile, the Lakers will hit the road for their next challenge against the Western Reserve Blue Devils on Thursday, seeking to maintain their momentum and secure another victory.

LADY LAKERS MAKE IT 9 STRAIGHT WITH WIN OVER BLOOMFIELD

Bloomfield, OH- Looking to continue an impressive win streak, the Pymatuning Valley Lakers secured a resounding 8-0 victory over the Bloomfield Cardinals on Wednesday.

The Lakers wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Saige Payne igniting the offense in the first inning by driving in a run with a solid single.

Building on their early momentum, the Lakers surged ahead in the top of the second inning. Allison Clark’s timely single brought in two runs, followed by a powerful triple from Saige Payne, adding another run to the Lakers’ lead. An error by the Cardinals further contributed to the Lakers’ commanding advantage.

The Lakers continued to showcase their offensive prowess in the top of the sixth inning, as Tessa Graves launched a spectacular homer to center field, driving in three runs and extending the Lakers’ lead even further.

On the mound, Mackenzie Kribbs delivered a stellar performance for the Lakers, shutting down the Cardinals’ offense with precision and poise. Kribbs allowed just three hits over seven innings while striking out nine batters and issuing only five walks.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield’s Miller struggled to contain the Lakers’ relentless offense, surrendering 14 hits and eight runs (seven earned) over seven innings of play.

The Lakers’ batting lineup was firing on all cylinders, amassing a total of 14 hits in the game. Macie Payne, Graves, Saige Payne, Clark, and Kasynthia Stockmaster each contributed two hits, with Graves, Saige Payne, and Clark driving in two runs apiece. Kribbs led the Lakers with three walks, while the team demonstrated excellent plate discipline, drawing a total of six walks throughout the game.

In addition to their offensive prowess, the Lakers showcased their speed on the base paths, tallying five stolen bases during the game. Their solid defensive efforts were highlighted by a well-executed double play.

Despite Bloomfield’s efforts, they were unable to match the Lakers’ dominant performance. Gwinn led Bloomfield with two hits, while Doll displayed patience at the plate, drawing two walks.

With this convincing victory, the Pymatuning Valley Lakers extend their winning streak to nine games, improving their season record to an impressive 16-1. The Lakers now set their sights on their next challenge as they prepare to defend their home turf against Chalker on Friday
