GIRARD OVERCOME WITH EMOTION AFTER HARD FOUGHT VICTORY

By now you know and have heard that the Girard Indians Football Team had a pretty big win last night.  The kind that doesn’t come around every day, or in this particular case, ever before.  For the first time in school history, the Indians are fighting for a State Championship.

Licking Valley gave Girard everything they had, and like any great prize fight, it came down to the final round.  It was the haymaker TD pass thrown from arguably the top Quarterback in the Country, Marky Waid to Nick Malito on 4th and 15 that knocked out the Panthers with 1:44 remaining in the final frame.  The Indians would win the game by a final score of 53-48, and we have strung together the raw emotion following the victory including the final touchdown call, an interview with Mark Waid, and the moment of the year as Head Coach Pat Pearson shares a moment with his wife after the game.  (Interviews and photos courtesy of Brent Bigelow)

We at YSN are incredibly proud and humbled to follow this team and this community.

WE ARE…

Proud.
