MIGHTY MADI MATTHEWS

COLUMBIANA OH- Heartland Christian junior Madi Matthews has made a major impression this season leading the Lions. She has already scored over 400 points on the season, and has broken school records in points and threes made in a game, and then broke them again. Matthews and her teammates have officially put Heartland on the map, and now they have a legitimate chance to win a handful of tournament games.

Matthews knew coming into the summer that she was going to stepping into a big role for her team this year. The Lions graduated a great senior class and it was up to some new leaders to step up, and Madi is one of those leaders. It wasn’t an easy summer, the Lions were in the middle of a coaching change. Matthews gives major credit to the boys program coaches for leading open gyms while the administration looked for a coach to hire. Now with a new coach at the helm, Matthews has felt confident all season long that she can be the leader her team needs. In her first game of the year, she scored 28 points and has not looked back.

Madi took the time this week to sit down with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her junior season so far. They discuss stepping into a new role, Madi’s work ethic, and much more. Meet one of the area’s more prolific scorer in Madi Matthews. “Might Madi Matthews” is live!
