NEVILLE IN THE GLORY

Crestview Rebel senior outside hitter Tess Neville might just be one of the best attackers in the area. Her swing has tremendous power, and when you match that with her court awareness and volleyball IQ, you have a bona fide game breaker. Neville leads the team at the moment with an eye popping 187 kills, and averages 3.5 kills per set. Neville is also extremely efficient with under 60 attack errors and a hitting percentage of .302. Tess’s leadership doesn’t end with her stat line though, she is a true example of a player who leads by example. She strives to be an example for all her teammates of what the standard is in this program.

Anthony Hartwig sat down with Tess to discuss her senior year, club volleyball experience, and much more. So get ready Rebel fans to hear the next Rebel Volleyball Player Profile, Neville In The Glory.

SISTER ACT: IRONS SHARPENS IRONS

There aren’t too many greater bonds in life than sisterhood, and that you make with your teammates. When you combine those two, you get something special. Emily and Reagan Irons treasure their time together on the court this season. They are able to find ways to help each other navigate the ups and down of a volleyball season. Both of them play in a leadership position. Emily is a senior setter, who is basically the quarterback of the court. Reagan puts on the different colored jersey as the libero who runs the back row.

Anthony Hartwig got the sisters together to chat about being on the court together, favorite memories, and much more. Get ready for a special edition of Raider Volleyball Player Profile Sister Act: Irons Sharpens Irons.

WITH A REBEL YELL, CRESTVIEW BOOTS EAGLES

SALEM, OH-  The last time the Rebels were in John A. Cabas Gymnasium they walked away with their only defeat of the season.  In fact, they haven’t lost a set since setting foot in Salem the last time around.  Fast forward nearly a month later and you find a jubilant crew of young ladies celebrating a 3-set victory over United (25-8,25-13, 25-10) to take the Sectional Final Crown.  It was the Rebels’ 18th sweep of the season.

18…out of 23 possible games.

The buzzsaw that is the Crestview Volleyball Team were led on Thursday by Tess Neville’s 10 points, 8 kills, 5 digs, and 2 aces.  Brenna Auer and Molly Emch each had 11 points while Sid Rambo had 4 kills and a pair of digs.  The Montgomery (Lucy and Amelia) sisters set the pace with 30 digs collectively.

UNDER THE SEA: SIERRA SEBASTIAN

The position of defensive specialist demands a certain mindset. To be on an island in the back row and responsible for your zone takes supreme confidence. That is something Poland senior Sierra Sebastian has in surplus. She fully believes in her ability to get the big dig for her team when she’s put in that position. Another thing a defensive specialist has to be able to do well is communicate. Sierra may be the most vocal member of the team. Coach DiNello says Sebastian’s best quality is her natural platform while passing. It’s something that some players just have. The ability to almost effortlessly make on target passes to the setter. There’s no question why Sierra is a player you can always see patrolling the seas of the Bulldog back row.

YSN’s Anthony Hartwig stopped by Poland to talk with Sierra. They discuss her favorite volleyball memories, being a senior leader, and much more. We round out the eight Bulldog seniors with the latest Poland Volleyball Player Profile Under the Sea: Sierra Sebastian.

PRIMETIME IS JUST GETTING STARTED

It takes a lot to be a full rotation player in volleyball. You have to be reliable in every spot on the floor. For freshman Maria Primavera reliability has never been a problem. Starting as a freshman never phased Primavera, not even in the beginning of the season. She describes herself as a confident player that knew she belonged on the court. Having a sister that has done the same thing when she was a freshman helps. Maria’s sister Anna’s advice to her sister was simply “stay calm.” She attributes her ability to mentally shake things off and staying calm to her start in tennis. Now nearing the end of her freshman season Maria has been a major impact on the team. Maria is one of only 2 players to have 40+ kills and digs. She also is no slouch on the service line. That is the definition of being reliable in volleyball.

Anthony Hartwig caught up with Maria to talk about what its been like having such a big role as a freshman, playing with her sister, and much more. Learn all you need to know about the Raiders youngest star in the latest Player Profile Primetime is Just Getting Started.
