TIGERS TAKE TWO IN HOLIDAY HOOPS CLASSIC

In a closely contested basketball matchup, the Massillon-Washington Tigers emerged victorious over the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals with a final score of 57-48.

The first quarter witnessed a competitive exchange of baskets, with the Massillon-Washington Tigers holding a narrow 14-13 lead over the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals. However, by halftime, Mooney managed to flip the script, capturing the lead at 25-22 as they headed into the halftime locker room.

The third quarter proved to be a turning point in the game, with the Massillon Tigers outscoring the Cardinals 24-11. This surge allowed the Tigers to take a commanding 46-36 lead heading into the final quarter. Despite a competitive effort in the last period, the Cardinals were unable to overcome the deficit, ultimately falling to Massillon with a final score of 57-48.

MiKiya Edwards was named the Player of the Game for Massillon-Washington, delivering an impressive performance with 18 points and 6 rebounds. LaNia Moore added 13 points and 6 rebounds, while Telia Russell contributed 12 points and 3 rebounds.
For the Cardinals, Samantha Rottunno led the scoring effort with 13 points, Talecia Huff contributed 12 points and 2 rebounds, and Sophia Diorio secured a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, Massillon-Washington improved to an 8-3 record and is set to host Dover (6-3) on Sunday, January 3rd.
