POLAND PREVAILS! HEADED TO HUDSON FOR REGIONALS!

STRUTHERS, OH- The Poland Bulldogs stole the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Canfield on Wednesday. Poland trailed 7-6 in the top of the sixth inning when Mj Farber singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Canfield scored five runs in the fourth inning, but Poland still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Canfield was led by Seth VelkerRicky HavrillaBrayden Beck, and Jad Jadallah, all driving in runs in the frame.

Canfield got things started in the first inning when Havrilla grounded out, scoring one run.  Canfield evened things up at two in the bottom of the third inning when Beck singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Poland tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Poland batters contributing to the big inning included Zachary YaskulkaJeremy CastroStephen Carney, and Mike Kushner, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Kushner led Poland to victory on the hill. He allowed three hits and one run over three and a third innings, striking out two. Jared Knight threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Michael Budde took the loss for Canfield. He went two innings, allowing two runs on one hit.

Beck started the game for Canfield. He allowed four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two Alex Barth started the game for Poland. He allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out one

Poland saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game.  CarneyBraeden O’Shaughnessy, and Yaskulka all collected multiple hits for the BulldogsCarney went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Poland in hits. Poland was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Yaskulka made the most plays with eight.

Beck led Canfield with two hits in four at-bats. Canfield stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Beck led the way with two.
