CARDS PICK UP FIRST WIN IN THE HEIGHTS

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH – Good things come to those who wait and that reigns true for the Cardinals as they snap a three game losing streak that spanned three weeks to start the season when they made their way to the Cleveland Heights Community Center Sunday night to take on the Tigers.

The Cardinals came out shooting in the first period where they found the back of the net FIVE times! It started 7 minutes and 32 seconds into the game with a goal from Luke Scolieri who took a nice pass from Grayson Orlovsky. From there the floodgates opened and just over three minutes later Adoni Darkadakis would net number two and 22 seconds after that Owen Orlovsky found the back of the net with his first career goal. We would go on to see Ardoni Darkadakis score his second of the night and Charlie Boris get his first career goal both in the five minute mark of the period.

The Cardinals dominated play in this period by testing the Tigers Goalie, James Betti, with 30 shots on goal and spent majority of the period in the offensive zone with only one shot making its way to the Cardinals keeper Scotty Tucker.

The dominant play continued on into the second where the Cardinals would find two more goals and test Betti 12 more times. The first tally came just over four minutes into the period when Connor Cattaneo took a pass from Darkadakis to put in his first of his career and find Darkadakis his fourth point of the game! Not even a minute passed when JJ Boris connected for his first career goal. Luke Scolieri would get the assist and his second point of the game. The Cardinals spent almost the entirety of the period in the offensive zone and did not concede a shot on goal to the Tigers.

Canfield didn’t let up on finding chances in the third and would test Betti 14 more times before the final horn went. While the Cardinals continued to pressure Cleveland Heights they would only find one more score in the third and it came from none other than Adoni Darkadakis who completed the hat-trick and the scoring for the Cardinals in this contest.

The Cardinals would secure the 8-0 win over The Tigers and move to 1-3 on the season. Dominant play from Darkadakis (who finished with 5 points) led the way to the win but the team as a whole saw much improvement from everyone including Kaylee Hensdill who earned player of the game recognitions from her team due to her fierce play in the crease all game and while she couldn’t find the back of the net her play proved invaluable to her team. Also of note are Connor Cattaneo, Charlie Boris, Owen Orlovsky and JJ Boris who all score their first ever high school goals.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday December 15th when they travel to North Olmsted for the Bay Rockets Holiday Tournament. Game one for Canfield drops the puck at 8:10PM.
