FLASHES STRIKE FOR BIG OFFENSE AGAINST LIBERTY

CHAMPION, OH- In a display of pure baseball IQ, Dylan Howell was unstoppable at the plate, hammering out three hits in three at-bats to lead Champion Flashes to a dominant 10-0 win over Liberty this Monday at Champion High School. Howell was on fire, doubling in the fourth, and adding singles in both the second and sixth innings.

The Flashes got rolling in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on a wild pitch and a groundout by Marky Nolan to notch their first runs.

On the mound, Howell was just as sharp, bagging the win with a stellar performance. He shut down Liberty, allowing just one hit across five innings, and chalked up seven strikeouts without giving up a walk. On the flip side, Liberty’s Clayton Bratton struggled, yielding seven runs over five innings and walking six, despite striking out seven himself. Seth Domes came in relief for the Flashes, throwing a clean inning to keep Liberty at bay.

At the bat, the Flashes weren’t just about Howell. They racked up nine hits in total. Carter Chapin contributed with a 1-for-3 outing, driving in two runs. Zack Morris also added a couple of hits. Discipline at the plate was key, as Champion drew seven walks, with Bradey Quinby and Carson Fife each taking two.

The Flashes were lightning fast on the bases, stealing a total of eight bags, with Howell and Fife each swiping more than one. Their fielding was flawless, not committing a single error throughout the game, with Fife leading the defense, involved in eight plays.

For Liberty, it was a tough day, but Trent Lieggi managed to snag one hit in two at-bats.

Up next, the Champion Varsity Flashes are set to face Liberty again on Tuesday.
