Twenty-four hours removed from completing the upset over the Lady Eagles, Girard played host to Hubbard in their second matchup of the season. With a sour taste from yesterday’s loss still looming, the Hubbard Lady Eagles came out firing and looking for revenge.

After a pop out to start the top of the second inning, the Eagles loaded the bases thanks to two singles and a walk. Hubbard’s Jordyn Juilleratwould then line one into center field to bring across two runs.

The Lady Eagles then loaded the bases again for the second time in the inning when Emily Filickywould lay down a bunt single. After an error by the Girard defense, a single from Phoebe Rusnak scored the fourth and fifth runs of the inning for Hubbard still with just one away.

Before the inning was said and done, singles from Gillian Ryser and Izzy O’Brien would plate runs as well as an error from the Girard defense, giving the Lady Eagles a total of 9 runs for the inning.

Giving up two in the bottom half of the inning, Hubbard carried a seven-run lead into the third. Keeping the bats hot, the Lady Eagles plated four additional runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Sydney Bowser.

Girard’s defense would tighten up following the big second and third innings for Hubbard. The Indians would only give up five hits for the rest of the game and allowed no more runs on the day.
