KINNICK IS KINETIC

CANFIELD OH- Physics 101 teaches us that kinetic energy is the energy of motion.  For Canfield, their motor constantly keeping them in motion is senior Jackie Kinnick.

Jackie is a captain of the team. And the Cardinals rely on her to keep them going. It hasn’t always been east this season. The first couple weeks did not go the way the Cardinals had hoped.  It would have been easy for the season to get out of hand, but Jackie and the other seniors on the team managed to pull the team together. Now they are on some kind of win streak. Kinnick has made dramatic improvements to her offense, and once she gets on the base paths it spells nothing but trouble for the other team.

Kinnick and her team are gearing up for a big game in the regional semifinals against reigning state runner up Wooster Triway.  The anticipation is building, but Jackie is confident that the team will be ready to go. The way they’ve been playing, they’ll definitely give themselves opportunities to win.

Kinnick stopped by YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her senior season. She talks to Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about what brought the team together, how they’re preparing for their regional game, and so much more. BOARDMAN TAKES TUNE UP OVER CANFIELD

STRUTHERS, OH- With big games coming up this week, both Boardman and Canfield were looking for tune-up games this weekend to keep things fresh.  Why not play each other?  The AAC foes have been matched up twice already this year with each team taking a game, the rubber match was a no-brainer.

Boardman stole the lead late and defeated Canfield 5-1 on Saturday. The game was tied at one with the Spartans batting in the top of the sixth when Jac Cordon doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Boardman got on the board in the first inning. Anthony Butto grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Canfield tied things up at one when Ryan Petro doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Seth Cervello got the win for Boardman. The righty went one and one-third innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Adam Konnerth and Charlie Young entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Connor Miller was on the pitcher’s mound for Canfield. Miller surrendered one run on two hits over one inning, walking one.  Brock Baker took the loss going one inning, allowing four runs on two hits.

Petro led the way at the dish for Canfield going 2 for 3.

Guy Young started the game for Boardman. Young surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out two and walking one

Cordon went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Spartans in hits.

QUESO EN FUEGO

CANFIELD, OH- Once every generation there’s a talent that explodes onto the scene and leaves his or her mark on a game that some of us may never be able to look at the same way ever again.  This generation belongs to a 6’4, 215-pound monster on the mound, who can strike fear in the heart of any hitter he faces, as well as change the game in the box with the swing of his bat.

Canfield’s Landon Beidelschies (pronounced BY-DUL-CHEESE) is not only one of the area’s top talents on the baseball diamond this year, he’s been showered with accolades and comparisons to some of the world’s best hurlers in the Major Leagues.  Big Cheese has a fastball that reaches the mid-90s, and a changeup that will corkscrew hitters into the dirt.  Tack on his tape-measure home runs he’s launched this season, and he gives Ohio State some options moving forward next fall.

While the future sounds fun to think about, Landon and the Cardinals are focused on one goal right now– an OHSAA State Championship.

We had the opportunity to sit down with the Super Southpaw for the Cardinals and discuss past, present, future, and family on this week’s Canfield Player Profile- Queso En Fuego.

CREATING SOME BAYHEM

CANFIELD OH- Sometimes you need to hit the reset button in the sport of softball. Nothing is better for players of the sport than being able to come back the next day, or the next season starting at 0. For Canfield senior Bayann Jadallah, she used every ounce of her offseason to prepare to come back her senior year and go out with a bang.

Bayann admits that her junior season did not go as planned. She struggled statistically which hurt her confidence. However, when the year was done the work began. Bayann is not the kind of player to lay down against adversity. She worked herself hard to come into her senior season confident, and ready to make big impacts. To no surprise to anyone in the Canfield program, she has done just that. Bayann is now one of the most feared hitters in the AAC. She holds down the middle of the lineup with an uncanny ability to get on base, and also knock bombs out of the park.

Bayann took the time to chat with the guys from Running Point this week about her final campaign. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about her senior season, her future plans, and much more. Fly with the Redbirds as we introduce the latest Canfield softball player profile.
