KOHLER K’S 10, RAIDERS OUTLAST KIRTLAND

AKRON, OH-  Bree Kohler threw a gem on Wednesday for South Range, allowing zero runs and besting Kirtland by a score of 2-0.  The pitching was strong on both sides. Kohler struck out ten, while Emily Ungrady sat down ten as well.  A single by Haleigh Getchell in the fifth inning was a positive for Kirtland.

Kohler was the winning pitcher for South Range Raiders Varsity. She went ten innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out ten and walking one.  Ungrady took the loss for Kirtland. She went ten innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out ten.  Kohler also contributed offensively going 3-for-5 at the plate to lead South Range  in hits. The Raiders were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Madison Weaver made the most plays with 13.

PITCHERS DUEL STUMPS RAIDER BATS

CORTLAND, OH- Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Lakeview was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over South Range on Wednesday. Brady Dixon started the game for Raiders and recorded 15 outs.  The Raiders lost despite out-hitting Lakeview five to three.  Lazzari got the win for Lakeview. He surrendered one run on three hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Dixon took the loss for the Raiders. He surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out one.  Boivin started the game for Lakeview. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out two.  Brandon YoungsJared BajerskiBrycen JamesBen Rivera, and Jaxon Anderson each managed one hit to lead RaidersRaiders was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Michael Cunningham made the most plays with ten.

RAIDERS WIN NOT IN THE CARDS AGAINST MOONEY

STRUTHERS, OH-  The South Range Raiders fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-0 loss to Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday. Cardinal Mooney took the lead on a single in the second inning.  The Raiders struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Cardinal Mooney, giving up seven runs.  Cardinal Mooney opened up scoring in the second inning. Ryan Stefanec drove in one when he singled.  For the Raiders, a double by Brandon Youngs in the second inning was a positive for Raiders.  Brandon Mikos earned the victory on the mound for Cardinal Mooney. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six. JT Ogden threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jake Gehring took the loss for Raiders. He surrendered four runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.  Offensively, Jaxon Anderson,Brandon YoungsBrycen JamesGehring, and Josh Stear each collected one hit to lead the Raiders.  Cardinal Mooney collected 13 hits. AJ PeppernyOlesh, Will Valintini, and Jake Fonderlin all managed multiple hits for Cardinal Mooney. Pepperny went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cardinal Mooney in hits. Cardinal Mooney was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

 

 

LADY RAIDERS ROLL 13-0 BEHIND WEAVER

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Madison Weaver threw a shutout to lead South Range past Liberty 13-0 on Friday. The Lady Raiders secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the first inning. The rally was led by singles by Hope ThomasMaddie HelonHanna Dennison, and Weaver, a walk by Bree Kohler, a triple by Thomas, and a home run by Dani Vuletich.  South Range opened up scoring in the first inning, when Thomas singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.  Weaver went the distance for South Range. She lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out five.

Offensively, the Raiders tallied 13 hits on the day. VuletichKohler, and Thomas each racked up multiple hits for South RangeThomasKohler, and Vuletich each collected two hits to lead South RangeSouth Range didn’t commit a single error in the field.

BROOKS/YOUNGS COMBINE FOR NO-NO, RAIDERS CRUISE 5-1 OVER BEREA

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- The South Range Baseball Team defeated Berea (SC) 5-1 on Thursday, as two pitchers teamed up to throw a no-hitter. Brandon Youngs struck out Brock Ballard to get the last out of the game.  The Raiders got things started in the first inning when Jake Gehring drove in one when he doubled.  Sam Brooks was the winning pitcher for the Raiders. He lasted six innings, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out four. Brandon Youngs threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Zach O’Malley took the loss for Berea. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out seven.

Offensively, the Raiders racked up nine hits on the day. Gehring and Jared Bajerski all had multiple hits for RaidersGehring led Raiders with three hits in three at bats.  Zack Fowler led Berea with one run batted in. He went 0-for-1 on the day. Berea didn’t commit a single error in the field. Eli Smith had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL: LADY RAIDERS WALK IT OFF

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- The South Range Raiders took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Pleasure Ridge Park. The game was tied at four with South Range batting in the bottom of the ninth when Hope Thomas singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring the winning run.  Pleasure Ridge Park scored four runs in the first inning, but South Range still managed to pull out the victory. Pleasure Ridge Park got on the board in the first inning.  A sacrifice bunt scored one run for Pleasure Ridge Park.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, South Range Raiders Varsity tied things up at four when an error scored a run for the Lady Raiders.

Bree Kohler was the winning pitcher for South Range .  She lasted nine innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out 11 and walking just one.  South Range tallied 11 hits. Julie CentofantiKohlerMaddie HelonMarlaina Slabach, and Thomas all managed multiple hits. ThomasSlabachHelonKohler, and Centofanti each collected two hits to lead the team.

KOHLER PITCHES PERFECT GAME AS LADY RAIDERS ROLL 13-0

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range Freshman Bree Kohler continues to make waves in the softball world.  Today the Freshman Phenom pitched 29/38 strikes, and 7 strikeouts on her way to a 5-inning, 13-0 perfect game victory over Eastside.  The game was stopped due to the progressive run rule in tournament play.

Kohler got it done offensively, as well.  She went 2-3 with 3 runs scored, and an RBI, and burgled four bases along the way.  Hanna Dennison led all offense with 3 runs batted in on 2 hits (single, and double.), and two stolen bases.  Adding to the hit-parade was Madison Weaver, Hope Thomas, Julie Centofanti and Dani Vuletich.

The Lady Raiders are back at it tomorrow morning at 8AM.

SOUTH RANGE UNABLE TO KEEP PACE WITH INDEPENDENCE

Myrtle Beach, SC-  The South Range baseball team struggled to get their offense going on Wednesday, getting easily dispatched by Independence (WV), by a score of 11-2.  The Patriots scored four runs in the fifth inning. Independence’s big inning was driven by a walk by Hunter Schoolcuff, a single by Hunter Mills, and by Haegan Harvey.  Fisher Horton was the winning pitcher for Independence WV. He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven. River Spencer threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Nick Habeth took the loss for Raiders. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out three.  Brandon YoungsMJ LucasJared BajerskiBen Rivera, and Justin Marrie each collected one hit to lead the Raiders.  Independence WV racked up 11 hits. HarveyMillsHorton, and Schoolcuff each racked up multiple hits for Independence.

The Raiders will be back to action tomorrow at 12:30PM.

GEHRING BLANKS NEWARK, RAIDERS START HOT IN MYRTLE

Myrtle Beach, SC- South Range defeated Newark(NY) 13-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Sam Brooks struck out Wood to finish off the game.

The Raiders secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. The rally was led by singles by Freshman Phenom Jake Gehring and Senior standout Brandon Youngs, doubles by Michael Cunningham and Josh Stear, a walk by MJ Lucas, and by Nolan Shannon.

The Raiders got things moving in the first inning. Senior, Brycen James drew a walk, scoring one run.

Gehring(1-1) got the win for Raiders. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out 13. Brooks threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

South Range scattered nine hits in the game. Youngs and Gehring each managed multiple hits for Raiders. Youngs went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Raiders in hits. Raiders was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jared Bajerski made the most plays with 13.

The Raiders are back to work Wednesday, we will keep you updated on YSN.

SOUTH RANGE COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JEFF DEROSE

It’s been a roller coaster season thus far for Coach DeRose and his squad.  From playing Niles in Raider Stadium and notching their first win of the year, to being blanked by Jefferson at home.  The challenges of this season seem to be most consistent with the weather.

Our Anthony Hartwig sat down with the Raider Skipper, and talked about some of the opportunities that lay ahead, and challenges that South Range must overcome to get back to the promised land.
