WARRIORS PICK UP STATEMENT WIN

BELOIT OH- Both teams were strong in the circle on Sunday, but West Branch defeated McDonald 3-1. Ellie Tucker started the game for West Branch and recorded 15 outs.

McDonald opened the scoring in the second after Aubrey Evans doubled, scoring one run. Then, Brynn Smith singled, which helped the Warriors tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth. A RBI ground out by Mati Hawk gave West Branch the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth.

Tucker earned the win for West Branch. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Bri McCombs opened the game for the Blue Devils. The southpaw surrendered four hits and three runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Klary McKay collected the save.

Sara Schmidt, Libbie Davis, Addi Craven, Smith, and Josie Milliken each collected one hit for West Branch. Davis, Hawk, and Smith each drove in one run. West Branch turned one double play in the game. Evans went 2-for-3 at the plate as the third baseman led the Blue Devils with one run batted in.
