HILL HAS A DAY, MOONEY TOO MUCH

COLUMBIANA, OH-  Cardinal Mooney Captures Lead Early To Defeat Crestview Rebels Varsity.  The Rebels fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-5 loss to Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday. Cardinal Mooney took the lead on a single in the first inning.  Crestview lost despite out-hitting Cardinal Mooney 12 to nine.

In the first inning, Cardinal Mooney got their offense started. Brennen Olesh singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.  Crestview put up three runs in the sixth inning. The Rebs big bats were led by Issac RicketsDevin Turvey, and Caleb Hill, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.  Mooney scored five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Cardinal Mooney came thanks to singles by Johnnie Mikos and JT Ogden, a sacrifice fly by Brandon Mikos, an error on a ball put in play by Ethan Shaw, and a double by Ryan Stafanec.

Mikos got the start for Cardinal Mooney. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and zero runs while striking out four.  Tanner Daub led things off on the hill for Crestview.  He surrendered eight runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out one. James Fitzgerald threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Crestview  collected 12 hits. HillDaub, and Jeff Feo each racked up multiple hits for Crestview Rebels VarsityHill went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead The Rebels in hits.  Cardinal Mooney racked up nine hits on the day. Ogden and Mikos each managed multiple hits for Cardinal Mooney.
