LADY RAIDERS WRAP UP SPRING TRIP WITH CONVINCING WIN

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- The South Range Lady Raiders nabbed the lead late in the game in a 12-2 victory over High Point Christian Academy on Thursday. The game was tied at two with the Raiders batting in the top of the fourth when Madison Dado singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

South Range fired up the offense in the first inning. Samantha Susany hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

South Range Varsity Raiders took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Juli Stachowicz tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run and an error scored one run for South Range.  The Burgundy and Gold put up six runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by South Range was led by Jamie Feren, Susany, and Stachowicz, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Susany led the South Range to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The right-hander allowed two hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.

Paisley Dixon took the loss for High Point Christian Academy. The Cougar hurler surrendered 11 runs on 11 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Jayli Wilt started the game for South Range. Wilt allowed five hits and two runs over two and a third innings, striking out two and walking zero

South Range racked up 12 hits on the day. Stachowicz, Dado, Keira Brogan, and Susany all had multiple hits for South Range. Dado and Stachowicz each collected three hits to lead the Raiders.

 


BEACH PARTY; LATE SURGE PROPELS RANGE OVER CHERAW

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range knocked in nine runs in the sixth on its way to a 14-4 victory over Cheraw on Wednesday. Keira Brogan, Jamie Feren, Kelly Szolek, Juli Stachowicz, Madison Dado, and Giada Pauline all drove in runs in the frame.

Cheraw fired up the offense in the first inning, when Steen was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

The Raiders knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. An error scored one run for South Range Varsity Raiders.

After South Range scored one run in the top of the fifth, Cheraw answered with one of their own. South Range scored when Dado singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Cheraw then answered when Hunt drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Raiders pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brogan doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

South Range tallied nine runs in the sixth inning. Brogan, Feren, Szolek, Stachowicz, Dado, and Pauline all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Stachowicz led the South Range to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The lefthander went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out 12. Jayli Wilt threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Steen took the loss for Cheraw. The pitcher allowed nine hits and 14 runs over seven innings, striking out 11.

South Range had nine hits in the game. Szolek, Dado, and Samantha Susany each managed multiple hits for South Range Varsity Raiders. Susany, Dado, and Szolek all had two hits to lead the Raiders.

The Raiders will be back at it in Myrtle Beach at 10am as they take on High Point.

LADY RAIDERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF SEASON AGAINST AYNOR

AYNOR, SC- It took extra innings, a “Texas Shootout” rule, and one of the best teams South Carolina to upend South Range for their first loss of the year.  That didn’t stop the Raiders who fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Aynor on Tuesday night. South Range scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Jamie Feren, a double by Kelly Szolek, a single by Sam Susany, and a triple by Madison Dado.

South Range Varsity Raiders was right in it until Aynor in the eighth inning when the international extra-inning rule, or “Texas shootout” rule was applied.  With this rule, the inning begins with a runner on second base.  Aynor took advantage of the rule, South Range could not,

Aynor got things moving in the first inning when Riley Rabon was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

The Raiders notched five runs in the fifth inning to overtake the lead. The rally was led by singles by Feren and Susany, a triple by Dado, and a double by Szolek.

Aynor evened things up at six in the top of the sixth inning. Hannah Lewis hit a solo homer.

Alivia Hess led the Aynor to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The ace surrendered zero runs on two hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Susany took the loss for South Range. The right-hander surrendered one run on three hits over three innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Maddie Johnson started the game for Aynor. The fireballer went four and a third innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out five Juli Stachowicz started the game for South Range. The lefthander went five innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out seven

South Range totaled eight hits in the game. Szolek and Stachowicz each had multiple hits for the Raiders. Stachowicz and Szolek each managed two hits to lead South Range.

Aynor scattered eight hits in the game. Hess, Lewis, Katie Goff, and Johnson all managed multiple hits for Aynor.

South Range will take on Cheraw at noon on Wednesday as they continue their spring break experience in South Carolina.

LADY RAIDERS SURVIVE BEARCAT SCARE IN MYRTLE

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Sam Susany threw a gem on Tuesday morning for South Range, allowing zero runs and besting Anderson by a score of 3-0.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Susany struck out five, while Shelby Lewis sat down three.

In the first inning, South Range got their offense started when Susany tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Anderson was a single by Lewis in the fourth inning to put the pressure on South Range, but would be alleviated by South Range without surrendering a run.

Susany took the win for the Raiders. The righty surrendered zero runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Lewis took the loss for Anderson. Lewis allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three.

South Range tallied nine hits. Kelly Szolek and Susany all managed multiple hits for the Lady Raiders. Szolek led South Range with three hits in four at-bats.

RANGE ROLLS OVER LADY DRAGONS

CANFIELD, OH- South Range defeated Niles 21-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Jayli Wilt struck out Wilson to finish off the game as part of a 6-straight strikeout fest for the Raider hurler.

Juli Stachowicz led South Range to victory by driving in four runs. Stachowicz went 3-for-4 at the plate. Stachowicz drove in runs on three triples.

South Range Varsity Raiders got things moving in the first inning. Samantha Susany doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for Niles was a single by Barrell in the first inning.

Susany earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Raiders. Susany lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight and walking one. Wilt threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Beck was on the rubber for the Lady Dragons. The pitcher allowed 19 hits and 21 runs over four innings.

South Range racked up 19 hits on the day. Kelly Szolek, Stachowicz, Susany, Anna Aey, and Keira Brogan all collected multiple hits for South Range. Susany, Stachowicz, and Szolek each managed three hits to lead the Raiders. South Range didn’t commit a single error in the field. Szolek had the most chances in the field with 15.

Barrell led McKinley with one hit in two at-bats.

South Range was rained out on Wednesday against Lakeview, and will now travel to Myrtle Beach for a six-game set down south.  All games will be broadcasted on YSN.

FRESHMEN LEAD THE WAY AGAINST LAKEVIEW

CANFIELD, OH- Sam Susany continued to shine as she and her South Range teammates shut down Lakeview, throwing a complete game shutout and leading to an 11-0 victory on Thursday

In the first inning, South Range Varsity Raiders got their offense started. Kelly Szolek grounded out, scoring one run, and the Raiders never looked back.

South Range scored five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by South Range was led by Jamie Feren, Riley DeCiancio, Keira Brogan, and Madison Dado, all sending runners across the plate with RBI’s in the inning.

A double by McKenna Werner in the first inning was positive for Lakeview.

Susany toed the rubber for South Range. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one.

Bacon was on the rubber for Lakeview. The pitcher surrendered six runs on nine hits over two and two-thirds innings, walking zero.  Chadwick threw two innings in relief.

The Raiders racked up 13 hits. Brogan, Juli Stachowicz, Anna Aey, Feren, and Gretchen Bartels each collected multiple hits for South Range. Brogan went 3-for-4, and Aey was 2-3 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits.



LADY IRISH TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Katie Koulianos was an RBI machine on Wednesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Ursuline past Mineral Ridge 14-1 on Wednesday. Koulianos drove in runs on a double in the first and a triple later that same inning.

Ursuline secured the victory thanks to 13 runs in the first inning. The rally was led by singles by Brooke O’Palick, Hannah Saluga, Ari Wendt, and Savannah Patrone, doubles by Koulianos, Kyleigh Golden, and Saluga, and a triple by Koulianos.

Mineral Ridge got on the board in the first inning when Mineral Ridge scored one run on a stolen base.

Golden was the winning pitcher for the Lady Irish. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Ylonen was on the rubber for Mineral Ridge. The pitcher allowed five hits and nine runs. Merolillo threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ursuline racked up 12 hits in the game. Patrone, Saluga, O’palick, and Koulianos all managed multiple hits for the Fighting Irish. Patrone went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Ursuline in hits. The Irish were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Mackenzie Smith had the most chances in the field with five.

LADY CARDS OFFENSE PREVAILS OVER HARDING

CANFIELD, OH- The Lady Cardinals have certainly showed up to represent Canfield well during the early going of the 2023 campaign.  Warren Harding became the latest victim of the high-powered Cardinal offense to the tune of 9-1 on a frigid Wednesday afternoon.

The Cardinals strung together seven hits in the contest and cashed in from the bats of Gianna Pannaunzio and Hailey Freedy who each had a pair of hits in the game.  Freedy would also lead the way in the runs driven in category with a trio on the night.

Bella Kennedy would lead the way in the circle dealing a 1-hitter with 8 strikeouts, as well as adding a double on offense.

Canfield (2-0) will run it back on Thursday against West Branch at home in the opening game for the Strikeout Cancer Classic.

SUSANY SIZZLES; RAIDERS OPEN THE SEASON ON RIGHT FOOT

CANFIELD, OH- Sam Susany didn’t allow a single run as South Range defeated Jefferson Area 3-0 on Wednesday. Susany allowed just one hit in the contest.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Susany struck out 13, while Sam Speakman sat down four.

South Range fired up the offense in the second inning. Gretchen Bartels grounded out, but scored one run in the process.

A single by Speakman in the fourth inning was positive offensively for Jefferson Area.

Speakman surrendered three runs on three hits over six innings, striking out four.

The Lady Raider offensive attack was keyed by Keira Brogan, who had a long ball in the fifth inning.  Brogan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Raiders in hits.

South Range (1-0) will host Jefferson (0-1) once again on Wednesday to complete the season series.

BOARDMAN STATE CHAMPS TO HAVE SENDOFF

BOARDMAN, OH – The Boardman Girls 12u Softball Team, fresh off its victory in the Ohio State Championship, will hold a final practice Friday, July 22 from 4:00-6:00 PM before heading to Indianapolis over the weekend to represent the State of Ohio in the Regional round of the Little League World Series.  Coaches and players will be available for interviews around 5:30.

Members of the Boardman Community are also invited to come out and support the team at this time as well.  The Kona Ice Truck will also be onsite.

The Regional Round is comprised of teams from Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Boardman will represent Ohio in the Central Region of Little League Play in Whitestown, Indiana. Boardman will play Kentucky on July 25 at 7:00pm with all games streamed live on ESPN Plus.
