YSN ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH YSU BASEBALL FOR 2019 SEASON

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has teamed up with Youngstown-area sports website Your Sports Network (YSNLive.com) to broadcast Youngstown State baseball games or the upcoming 2019 season.

YSN will stream all 22 of the Penguins’ scheduled home games and select road contests, including an early-season series at nationally-ranked Florida State. “I’m extremely happy to be partnering with YSN,” said YSU Head Coach Dan Bertolini. “This provides a great opportunity for the program to have our games broadcast live for fans if they can’t make it out to the park.”

This partnership marks the first trek into the collegiate ranks for the streaming company, which currently serves as the sports broadcast home for more than 20 schools and six organizations in the Youngstown area. YSN covers a broad range of events, which also includes youth sports, as part of the coverage plan.

“We’re thrilled to have Coach Bertolini and the Penguins on YSN,” said YSN founder DJ Yokley. “There’s an incredible amount of talent on this roster, and they are so deserving of being showcased. We’re happy to be in a position to do just that.”

Each broadcast will feature streaming audio, and a static video stream from behind home plate will be available for home games at Eastwood Field. Students from YSU’s Sports Broadcasting program will have the opportunity to handle play-by-play and color analyst duties along with members of YSNLive.com. All live broadcasts will be free for fans with archived versions available for purchase.

The inaugural broadcast is slated for Friday, Feb. 22, from Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla., where the Penguins will begin a three-game series with Florida State. Yokley and YSN General Manager Steve Leslie will be on the call as YSU takes on the Seminoles, who are ranked No. 6 in Baseball America’s Preseason Poll and No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

“We thought it was very important to begin this partnership out on the road,” said Leslie. “YSU plays a very competitive schedule against some of the top teams in the nation, and we’re extremely excited for the opportunity to bring the action back to the Mahoning Valley and beyond.”

The Penguins will open the 2019 season this Friday, Feb. 15, at No. 9/15 Mississippi State to begin a three-game series. The team’s home opener at Eastwood Field is scheduled for March 22 against Oakland.
