MATHEWS PROVES TO BE TOO MUCH FOR MCDONALD

NORTH JACKSON, OHIO- The McDonald Blue Devils watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-1 loss to Mathews on Wednesday for a Division IV District Championship.

The Blue Devils struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Mathews, giving up 11 runs.

Olivia Matheny was the winning pitcher for Mathews as she lasted six innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out 14.

Kayla Helco and Addison Edwards each collected one hit to lead the Blue Devils at the plate as Isabella O’Brien started the game for the Blue Devils. The righty lasted two innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out two and walking one.

Gianna Mancini came in relief and took the loss for the Blue Devils as she went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.
